In the heat of the sauna?

I must admit, until now, whenever I thought of a sauna, I thought of the steamingly hot (or hotter) room, and a bunch of portly men, wearing towels, or the Scandinavian thing where people sit in very little, or less, in a wooden cabin, then run outside, through several inches of snow, and jump into a frozen, or near frozen lake.

What I have now discovered (and its probably been around for a while, in truth) is that there is something called an infra red sauna, which has none of that fun and games, and can also be set to a slightly saner temperature (mind 130-150 is still more than fine for me), and without any of the mess, or effort.

And yes, given the one thing my busted back loves is heat, discovering these, and more critically discovering that the place where I go for my brainwashing sessions, sorry, flotation tank therapy sessions has got one has interested me no end. Now let me say that in real life, I’ve never even seen a sauna, let alone actually been in one, but just maybe…? And yes, an infra red one, with all the ease of use appeals to an old crock like me, totally.

Yes, I love Christmas, and the New Year holidays, as it gives me a much needed break from the strains on my body. But it also means I have to go 6 weeks (instead of 4) without Physiotherapy sessions (Tuesdays were Christmas Day, New Years Day), and the back, after 5 weeks, has started to object strongly to all of this. Yes, to put it politely, my back hurts like hell, even if I try to hide the worst of it at times. Even worse at present, as temperatures have dropped away in last few days, so kind! Even the Flotation Tank option has been closed for the holidays too! But then they announced the reopening today, they mentioned this Infra Red sauna thing, I started to investigate, and…

I must admit, I’m one of these people who will give most things (excluding extreme cold) a try, so I suspect that if possible, I’m going to find out what its like, very soon. Even if its too hot for most of me, I suspect my back will love it!

OK, video time. I know nothing of this group, or the song, this was just one of those purely random You Tube searches, nothing more. But yes, I suspect that men, and maybe a few ladies might enjoy this video, somehow?

In the heat of the night

Just a little fyi for all my North American readers (and the stats suggest I have a few), I should point out that today was the last bank holiday in the UK before Christmas. Yes, my US readers have a few before then, including one for which I will be in their country, Thanksgiving, for my very first time, really looking forward to that. Even if it might be slightly cooler (especially where I’m going) by then.

Yes, today, as is seemingly traditional in this country, the weather has been awful, rain for much (if not more) of the day. Hey, one big cricket match was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain, and the only surprising thing was how late they made the decision to do so.

Whereas, in Kansas City, there are heat advisory notices! Hey, it was 84 in the middle of the night last night, which is over 25 degrees higher than its reached here all day! And another fyi, as I type this, its 94! Heck, Cherryvale hit the century mark yesterday! Seriously Kansas, a few degrees lower in 3 weeks time, I really dont mind lol! Daytime round the 80’s will be fine by me! Honest, you dont want to see me in shorts, or short skirts, you really dont!

I’m not saying summer is gone over here, as September has a habit of providing decent weather, so we will see. But in terms of traditional summer holidays, this is it, as wet as ever.

Irony, Jean Harlow hated the sun, and heat, she was so fair that she burnt badly if she was out in it too long. I’m pretty fair, and do tend to burn, rather than tan, so just maybe…? As long as it doesnt put her ‘spirit’ off visiting me in KC lol!

The video, well, the title is apt. The song, hmm? But it should hold sex appeal for most at least.
