Crackling Harlean?

But no, before anyone thinks this is going to be about my health matters, you’re wrong!

One of the things I’m now in a position to catch up on, and get inspired by, is the Blackpool film festival next year, which is a bit later next year, not in March, but in May, weekend starting on the 22nd to be exact, and seemingly going on to the 25th, given its a Bank Holiday weekend, so that will be fun.

One of the suggested themes for the weekend is the old dance based musicals, though I think its safe to say that as I will then be 62, I wont be wearing anything quite as revealing as anything young Clara Johnson, and the other dancers did, lol. Something fun, and a dancer type outfit, but crazily revealing, not without very large amounts of personal sponsorship, lol.

However, one of the other considerations involves science fiction films, and one film got included in the discussion, Metropolis. Just think about, and even ignoring my less than subtle robot kink, what could be better for a recovering cancer patient than wearing a full robot bodysuit outfit, able to sit down for recovery periods in the seat that was designed for the Metropolis robot to sit in? And lets face it, if a robot feels the need to walk slowly, well again, its what she’s meant to do? And besides, if me hair, or anything else is in less than perfect condition, even by then, who is going to know? Oh, and yes, fine, I’d love every moment of wearing it, anyway.

Of course, if I needed an absolute incentive to make sure I was fit enough to work at the Festival in May, that would definitely be it!

Mind, I might get some early practice of living as a robot over this weekend anyway. The hair hasnt been cut since March, just before the health issues all started, but all (or pretty much all) is coming off tomorrow morning. Oh, should I mention that at the moment, the only wig that has turned up is the silver one? The 2 redhead ones (a bob and a just longer than shoulder one), the email says will be delivered by Monday, but in the interim, its either the almost bald (or actually bald) robot look, or a silver wig, so well…? I have some old (and I mean as in over 10 years old) silver Lycra type suits that might also get used at weekend, assuming I can still get into them of course? No, as far as I know, I’m not going out at the weekend, and Lycra isnt going to work for outdoor wear at my age, but indoors…

As far as I know, after tomorrow the next time I need to venture out is a week today, for the meet the team get together in Leeds hospital. It was also going to be meet the blonde wig day, but that is now on 29th, as its a day that suits the team providing it, after a phone call this morning. Oh, we got there on call 3, they’d been given the wrong Christian name, so twice said Julie, but she eventually worked out it was me, rang me back, and then… Fine, I’ll settle for one of the redhead wigs on the 24th, lol, unless someone wants to dare me, with a sponsorship payment?

No, despite the subject matter, its not a certain Queen video. Yes, there is a big clue in the blog title though.

Sometimes you just have to put your life on Freeez

Yes, that spelling is deliberate, as you will see, when we get to the end of the blog!

Last night, while trawling through Facebook, I got a private message come through, from someone who’d liked one of my comments on a certain sci-fi picture, one involving people wearing silver space suits, and the like. Yes, I know, who would have thought I had a thing for body hugging silver suits?

Oh, fine, the fact he’s in LA, a city I love was a nice bonus too. Just outside the city, but I know pretty well, just where he is. No, if you want to know that detail, you’ll have to ask.

Anyway, amongst many other interesting sci-fi subjects we got talking about, there was one I’ve never got around to posting about on here, suspended animation. Yes, those pods, in Lost In Space was where we got started, and things just took off from there.

Which got me thinking, just how practical is suspended animation, stasis, or any other name you might like to use for it. As things stand (presumably), the main issue, as I see it, in suspending a person totally, is the factor of keeping the brain, and heart, in such a state, that when reactivated, everything is fine. I mean, surely, if everything is suspended, then the brain isnt getting the supply of blood it needs, so wouldnt it get damaged? Or are you so totally suspended, that it doesnt matter? Once reactivated, its just like everything just sleeps, and all is fine?

I mean, currently, as far as I know, no one has tried this with a living person, right? And no, cryogenics (freezing after death) doesnt count, because,

1. The person is dead, whereas the person in suspended animation, is really only in a very deep sleep.
2. No one who has been cryogenically frozen has yet been woken up, so we have no idea if they wouldnt just be dead anyway, or so brain damaged, they might as well be.

But fine, I admit it, if someone offered to try out suspended animation, on me, I’d probably say yes. I know, I’m crazy like that! Ideally initially for a very short time, while having my brain scanned, for potential problems, but anyway…And fine, if it worked, and all was fine, I might go for a bit longer like that, especially if I’m not aging in the interim. A month, you bet! A year, probably. Beyond that, hmm, lets see how it feels, when done. A century, no thanks! Well, unless its part of a deep space mission, and then, hmm?

So, if anyone out there has a suspended animation pod they want a guinea pig to try out, give me a shout. Somehow, I’m not expecting a call in the near future, but who knows?

Right, the video. Yes, the clue is in the title, but thats the group, not the song. Oh fine, there’s some robot dancing in this!

Calling occupants of alien space craft.

A few things have brought about this blog. Firstly, one of my favorite characters to use in stories, CJ (yes, the modern edition of Clara Johnson) has been involved in a couple of fun skirmishes with a group of aliens of late, of an interesting kind, and secondly, the old chestnut of whether we really have had aliens visit our planet, live on our planet, or indeed abduct people to space craft in the middle of nowhere came about today.

Now I know you’re going to ask, do I, despite all logic saying otherwise (in terms of distance), believe that aliens have been to, are on Earth? Yes, you gather from the way I put that, I’m going to say yes. I know, at speeds we know of being able to travel, and the distances involved, it doesnt seem likely. But equally, who knows what technology may be out there in deep space, way beyond our comprehension, or horizons? Lets just say that there is a lot of secrecy involved in a small area of New Mexico for good reason, and leave it at that!

Yes, thats where the alien part of my story was set up for, no surprise, I guess? And yes, cute little flying saucer type space craft were most definitely involved. Fine, my story, and what happened to CJ in it, are pure fiction, but its fun to think that just maybe…?

As to whether alien life actually lives currently on Earth, who knows? Quite possibly, though I’m pretty sure its safe to say that they have either taken human body forms, or taken over selected human bodies. Lets go no further with that, OK? But equally, if you’re asking me if we really are the only beings in this corner of the universe, my guess would be no, but due to their far superior technology, we only find know it, if and when they want us to!

Who, me? Would I love a flight in one of those space craft, you bet I would. I cant say that anal probing is really my thing, but if thats the price I have to pay, I’ll go along with it. And of course, if they want to probe, and do other wicked things to my mind, no complaints whatsoever! Please do, in fact!

So what do you believe? Are we really the only sentient beings in the universe, or are there others out there? Either to visit us in the future, or have they already done so, or even are they already amongst us? Well?

OK, to the video. Firstly, the version of this song everyone knows, the full length track, with classic video

But then, did you know? Did you know, that is in fact a cover version of the song, because most people dont. This in fact is the original version, sounding very different in places. Sadly, no live version to be found, maybe the aliens have got one? 😉
