Born too late, or is it too early?

One of the subject matters on one of the forums I visit this morning, was the matter of how AI is developing, and how it will lead in the next 50 years or so, to cybernetic/robot bodies for us to upgrade into, if we so wish, and lets face it, I would be one of those who would jump at the chance. And yes, thats what someone pointed out, saying that I had to be ready for that day to come around, and get downloaded into a lovely robot body

However, as I gently pointed out to him, unless it actually happens within, realistically, the next 10 years, its all going to be too late for me. I know, I might last a bit longer than that, though given all my physical issues now, I’m not sure I really want to, in this body at least! As for the best part of 50 years time, then yes, I’ll be long forgotten for sure, given I have no family to worry about me, once I go!

But yes, 20, or 30 years younger, and who knows, I might have got my wish? Of course, as this would have meant I didnt grow up with the likes of the early Star Trek, Dr Who, and the Carry On films (with their brainwashing, and wax work creation stuff), I might have felt differently about it all. Equally, Metropolis might have hooked me on the idea anyway, lol!

So fine, practically, if I have one last acting role in me, and I cant see any rush to provide it, then yes, I’d love to play a robot, or an alien, complete with really good outfit. Or fine, any decent outfit, but you get my drift! 😉 Equally, a chance to play a flapper, again, wouldnt say no!

Or was I just born too late? Yes, I know, I’d have missed out on all these modern delights of life, but fine, I would have loved to have been a flapper in the 1920’s. Or equally, around the movie scene in the 1930’s in some role, a lot like Clara Johnson, either in acting extra roles, or with luck (and some unknown dancing skills), a chorus line dancer, or maybe more?

Equally, there are some that would say I would have enjoyed life as a 50’s housewife, which lets face it, is where the whole Stepford Wife image was created from, they’d be right! Even better as a real Stepford Wife, lol!

Which of course brings us back to the point mentioned at the start of this blog, the dutiful robot wives of the future. Sadly, by that point, some 50 years on, I’ll be gone, in this life at least. But maybe, next time around…?

Right, tonight’s video. This is a very old song (originally released the year I was born, 1958), and sadly, no film of the Pony Tails performing it on You Tube could be found. But I found this instead. I know nothing of the group, but its live, its of decent quality, so…

All The Small Things (I Could Do)

You know all these people who do something crazy to celebrate their birthdays, especially the landmark ones? No, I never have, been thoroughly boring in that sense, all my life.

So now, why do I feel I want to do something this year, beyond the fact its the oldies landmark of 60, no idea? Even more so given that I’ve now got issues with my back, issues with my budget, given I’m now only able to do a 4 day week, and never done anything crazy like that up to now?

The answer is, no idea, but I feel that I do! The only possible so far, which would definitely be fun, is this, http://www.auntysocial.co.uk/some-like-it-hot-volunteers/ which I have put myself forward for, but its actually on my birthday, and its miles from me, but yes, it would be a wonderful way to celebrate officially hitting old age!

Now I dont (seriously) expect any passing aliens to offer me a flight in a space craft, nor do I seriously expect a friendly mad scientist to turn me into a robot, brainwashed, or the like either (If anyone wants to roleplay for real, either of those 2 things, and you’re in a suitable location…?) . Equally, and lets face it, its too late now for research anyway, do I expect to get offered a guided tour of an ECT theater either. Also, lets face it, I’m not likely to be offered a part in a film, movie, or theater run now, either!

There is also the snag that not only do I now have physical issues, which would stop anything too crazy on that front, but because I’ve had to cut my working week due to it, I havent got the money to treat myself either! So, in truth, beyond perhaps the Blackpool thing, it looks like being another quiet birthday week, ah well…

But fine, it might be fun to just do something silly, once in my life, before I’m officially too old, just saying…? But what?

OK, video time. Big clue in the title here. I know, never been done before, but anyway…

Now, if my surgery was being done like this?

I might be a lot keener to have it done! A clue to what I mean by that?

knee-surgery

Thanks go to ‘Legion’ for finding that picture, and posting it somewhere I would see it, has to be said. I know his real name, but for here, that will do.

Yes, there might be one or two here that know, but I suspect dont, that in terms of healthy joints, my body would fail most tests! My wrists, and fingers are riddled with arthritis (not too severely, thankfully), and my knees are a total surgical mess, with little, or no cartilage in either knee, if we are being truthful. No great details, beyond an accident as a child, but the pain is getting worse, as I get older, and I am now. So yes, a new robot body would be handy in more senses than one.

In truth, I’m already suspecting that next year, I’ll have to get at least one, if not both knee joints replaced, but I’ve been putting it off as long as possible. Yes, the pain, and general discomfort around the op doesnt thrill me, along with the time I would need off, having just got a job, but anyway, it will have to be done I suspect, especially the right knee, but as things stand, it wont be before October, as I have a work probation, and 2 holidays planned before then, and nothing is getting in the way of those!

But yes, fine, if it was all going to be done like in that picture, I might be a whole lot keener on the idea, to put it mildly! I know, I know, if only…Yes, I’d get all my joints sorted out if that was the option! 😀 If anyone can arrange that, as a Christmas present…?

Oh, yes, its Christmas! Actually got a week off this year, the longest break I’ve had while working, in a very long time! Finished last night, and dont go back until next Thursday. Then 2 days in, then 4 more off for New Year, wow! One of those is my day off for the week, but even so…

So yes, I got driven home for Christmas last night, even if it was only a bus driver, who couldnt get to Huddersfield quickly enough for me to get my perfect connection home, but I survived. Yes, thats a clue to tonights video, one of those Christmas songs that gets less attention than some. And being a Chris Rea fan…

Mind beating time, like clockwork

Yes, given how popular the more mind control stuff seems to be with readers, I suppose I might as well take this chance to mention something that came up yesterday, over at Fembot Central.

As is my norm, on work days, I try to at least get through all my main sites before I head off to work. Well, not strictly all, as beyond a few favorite groups, I dont tend to do a lot on Facebook, beyond checking on anyone that it tells me has commented on one of my threads, or has mentioned me, or, well, you get my drift, I dont trawl through everything on work days. Weekends, or more specifically, days off, I still do, but when working, I really havent got the time.

So yes, when I saw this headline on a thread on Fembot Central yesterday, it caught my eye, to put it mildly!

An idea for actual conversion, looking for willing subjects!

Yes, I know, I’d hate the idea, not! If you want more details, then go to http://www.fembotcentral.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13494 as he would dearly love to know how practical, and possible his concepts are, so if you can help him, feel free to do so. Yes, fine, I’m definitely hoping to be one of the prototypes for this, absolutely! If you dont want to sign up to FC, well, his Skype address is there, and even I have Skype, so…

I know, it wont strictly turn me into a robot, but being realistic, under current technology, and stuff, its about as good an offer as I’m likely to get, at my age, viability wise. Equally, I’m practical, knowing my luck, it wont come to anything, but hey, it gives me something to dream about happening to me, for sure! And maybe, just maybe, I might yet get to become a robot, albeit an organically based one!

Oh please let it happen!

Right, video, massive clue in the blog title. I know, never do anything like that, lol!

Anyone fancy giving me a role like this?

Firstly, let me say, I never heard back about the bride advert role, before anyone asks. No, I’m not surprised, given my age, compared to the desired age range, and I’m pretty sure the fact I’m not resident in North America, and therefore would include extra travel, and work paperwork, probably played a part in that, but who knows? I also got asked this week if I was interested in a gentle break back into acting, in the New York State/New England area, but they needed me to have a working visa, or green card, which I havent, so not going to happen. No point in applying, even if I had the money to do so, because I gather thats the issue for the UK actress originally offered the role. Yes, they want a Brit, but unfortunately, US Immigration arent seemingly as thrilled by the idea, at least not in releasing paperwork required quickly! Such is life, as that would be amazing, but I havent got the money for the visa, even if everything else could be done in time. I know, just wanted you to know that my talents skills seem to be in demand at present, even if no work, and decent wages are going to come out of it, shame! I only reminded my agency I existed when I sent them some new pics for a diversity talent workshop in LA today!

So, OK, fine, if Progressive ever make ads like this, I might get a visa, by hook, or by crook, but for now…

This morning, over at Fembot Central, someone provided links to a couple of amusing pictures. By changing the name of said insurance company to Regressive, I assume they can get around the rules? I’m only providing links, not images, just in case! Given that I could see these without being logged in, I assume others can too?

Yes, fine, I wouldnt look anywhere near as concerned by the prospect of this being done to me, as the lady seems to be in Image 2! A little bit of hunting found 2 more similar pictures, that all seem to be part of the process, and fine, the first one of this pair, I would love done to me!

http://crash2014.deviantart.com/art/Flobot-3-554676022

Yes, looking like, and thinking as little as I suspect the bot in the last image does, pure heaven!

As I say, thats an ad I’d love to make, though I doubt very much Progressive would see that as suitable for their market lol! But fine, if anyone wants me to act this out, or do it to me for real, yes please!

The video. Let me say I know nothing about this group, but given their name, it seemed far too apt for this blog. Lets just say that the song they’re covering, I’m old enough to remember the original!

If you want to become a robot, prepare to be zapped!

Generally in stories where someone is turned into a robot, it involves one of two methods. The trendy, and more modern method, generally involves an injection of specially created nanites, that work on the human mind, and body, turning someone from flesh and bones, into metal, and circuitry. As far as I know, currently, said nanites only exist in fictional works, though agreed, if they did, it would probably be the most effective way of transforming someone.

The other popular method used for said transformation, and which always the one used in the classic movies of the past, involves the use of electricity, to transform said person. Back in the B Movies, this was also used for creating all sorts of monsters as well. And yes, I’d be remiss if I didnt mention that amazing scene in Metropolis, at this point. Technically, that wasnt so much a robotization, as a mental download into a robot body, as Maria was, err, well relatively fine, afterwards! Mind, it gives the impression that quite a lot of electrical activity might have been passing through her mind to create this!

But in things like the Bride of Frankenstein and the like, then the whole body gets quite a delicious amount of electricity through her whole self. Yes, fine, I might enjoy that experience.

Of course, strictly, in the real world, that much electricity passing through the human mind, and body, tends to be fatal. Of course, in theory, I guess that the idea is that you become a robot before that moment kicks in, and of course robots love to be charged up by a good dose of electricity! Sometimes of course, those nanites get activated by said charge of electricity, which gets around the death issue, I guess, as the body has been adapted to enjoy that effect. How either of these option work in reality, who knows at present, as its beyond the realms of current technology, as far as I know?

Of course, back then, and indeed, until recent times, electricity was actually used to kill people, the good old electric chair! For an article re this, follow the link at http://weburbanist.com/2011/03/20/old-sparky-the-shocking-history-of-the-electric-chair/ to discover more. Oh fine, I’d love to sit in one of those chairs, and be connected up as they were, though ideally while the mains leading to the chair is very much switched off! Fine, I might not say no, if it wasnt connected up, but I know which I would prefer!

The only electric chair I’ve actually had close contact with, was many years ago, in an amusement arcade. Yes, thats right, an electric chair in an amusement arcade. No, it wasnt real, just a seat that you sat in, put your head into the cap, and placed your hands on the two metal bars, and got shocked! No, not really, as far as I can tell, though it definitely made your hands tingle. But given the vibration in the bars, I assume it was a device, and not real electricity. Anyway, what happened was, the vibration just got stronger, and stronger, until your hand came off, that broke the ‘circuit’ and you got your reading.

I assume none of these machines still exist, but if someone knows one that does, I’d love to do it again, believe me! No, sadly, I cant remember what they were actually called. Equally, I have no idea if they were only a UK, or a worldwide thing.

But yes, one of those, or something even more inventive, then yes, I’d love to, and I wouldnt mind electricity actually being used, err, relatively safely, on me! So if you want to do that to me, let me know, please!

Right, video time. You could say the group are apt, for this blog, and you could say this might be where you end up, after the electricity has finished you off. Unless of course, that electrical charge has turned you into a robot…bleep

Looks like I’ve been upgraded!

Oh believe me, I wish that was for real! Mind, if anyone out there reading this is saying, it can be easily done, or even trickily done, then yes please, I’d love it to happen! Feel free to shout, if you can!

So, tell a short story, last weekend, I decided I hadnt done any selfies in quite a while, so thought I’d give it a go. I did do a few at Christmas, but they werent great, so that means the last decent ones were in Hollywood, last October. This time though, I decided to have a bit of fun, and play up the whole robot look, while doing it.

Fine, I got a silver dress out, that I havent worn in a very long time, if ever, given its length, as its the perfect silver metallic look. Fine, for a robot, it needs sleeves, and in truth, it needs to be longer, at my age, given its definitely mini length, well above the knees! So fine, discretion, especially given the state of my knees, I put on a pair of silver leggings as well. The end result, this

As I say, too much flesh showing, but given I dont have a long pair of silver gloves, not a lot I could do. But fine, there was one bit of flesh that I could cover up for sure, my face. So tracking down my Cyberman helmet, and attempting to take pictures with limited visibility, I took these

Or for those who prefer a close up

Sadly, when I took the helmet off, I discovered I was still human underneath it, ah well…

Yes, it would be a lot easier if someone else was taking the photos, especially while wearing the helmet, as you really cant see a lot, wearing that, so if anyone wants to take a few for me like that (I have no funds to pay for lots of expensive photos) for whatever reason, then again, shout.

Or ideally, if someone wants to genuinely turn me into a robot, oh please do!

Right, the video. A tribute to the most famous robot ever, just maybe? Yes, fine, maybe I should have gone with the original, Debbie isnt as strong a singer as she used to be, sadly. Hardly surprising, at her age, but anyway, who am I to talk?
