In the heat of the sauna?

I must admit, until now, whenever I thought of a sauna, I thought of the steamingly hot (or hotter) room, and a bunch of portly men, wearing towels, or the Scandinavian thing where people sit in very little, or less, in a wooden cabin, then run outside, through several inches of snow, and jump into a frozen, or near frozen lake.

What I have now discovered (and its probably been around for a while, in truth) is that there is something called an infra red sauna, which has none of that fun and games, and can also be set to a slightly saner temperature (mind 130-150 is still more than fine for me), and without any of the mess, or effort.

And yes, given the one thing my busted back loves is heat, discovering these, and more critically discovering that the place where I go for my brainwashing sessions, sorry, flotation tank therapy sessions has got one has interested me no end. Now let me say that in real life, I’ve never even seen a sauna, let alone actually been in one, but just maybe…? And yes, an infra red one, with all the ease of use appeals to an old crock like me, totally.

Yes, I love Christmas, and the New Year holidays, as it gives me a much needed break from the strains on my body. But it also means I have to go 6 weeks (instead of 4) without Physiotherapy sessions (Tuesdays were Christmas Day, New Years Day), and the back, after 5 weeks, has started to object strongly to all of this. Yes, to put it politely, my back hurts like hell, even if I try to hide the worst of it at times. Even worse at present, as temperatures have dropped away in last few days, so kind! Even the Flotation Tank option has been closed for the holidays too! But then they announced the reopening today, they mentioned this Infra Red sauna thing, I started to investigate, and…

I must admit, I’m one of these people who will give most things (excluding extreme cold) a try, so I suspect that if possible, I’m going to find out what its like, very soon. Even if its too hot for most of me, I suspect my back will love it!

OK, video time. I know nothing of this group, or the song, this was just one of those purely random You Tube searches, nothing more. But yes, I suspect that men, and maybe a few ladies might enjoy this video, somehow?

Christmas time, dont let the Physio end!

To be honest, in an ideal world, I’d probably ignore the build up to Christmas for as long a period of time as I could, but today was the day I had to accept it was coming soon.

Why? Simple! Currently I have a session of Physiotherapy, every 4 weeks, on a Tuesday. So, given I had one today, there is one small snag with booking the next one for 4 weeks time, it is the 25th day, of the 12th month, otherwise known as Christmas Day! And 5 weeks from now is New Years Day, so it will now be 6 weeks before I can go again, eek!

In truth, at this moment, I see this as less of an issue than I did before discovering the benefits of an hour in a flotation tank! Yes, its official, my back is better now than its been for 15 months, but not yet by a dramatic amount, but maybe its getting there? Not going to ever be right, I’m sure, but apparently I have more mobility in my spine now than I’ve had since it fractured. As I say, baby steps at this point, but given thats the official Physio view, oh wow!

And yes, guilty, I only did it so quickly because of the ‘weirdness’ factor, but look at the old girl now! No, I dont know how, and neither does the Physio, but neither of us really care, in truth. And yes, I have 2 more session in the ‘brainwashing pod’ planned before Christmas, which will help too.

But yes, depressingly, this was the first day I had to really acknowledge the coming of Christmas, ah well…

Right, the first, but almost certainly not the last Christmas music video of the season. Not one of the golden age classics from the 70’s, something far more recent in fact. But it has that golden age feel, so…

I am still human, I think?

Mind, after this morning, if someone checked the base of my back, and found a USB port, nothing would surprise me! There is actually an old posting on Fembot Central, clearly photo-shopped, of someone’s neck, complete with jack plug hole, USB port, and another similar item, seemingly within the lay of their flesh. As I say, not real now, but in about 30 years time, I wouldnt be surprised to see it in the slightest. Except I wont be around to see it by then, but anyway…

Ah, the delights of Physiotherapy! Oh, believe me, it was delightful. To be fair to her, she knows my kink, and is more than happy to play to it, believe me. I wouldnt yet be surprised to turn up next week to find a full electric stimulation bodysuit in metallic silver, knowing her! Probably not, but if she did, would I wear it, you bet I would!

So anyway, today started off going through the details of my issues, and some general back work first. Then I felt something placed over the problem area of my back, and next thing I know, is some delicious electrical pulses running through the area. Clearly I was enjoying it far too much (I was almost purring, to be fair), because the power got turned up, and then turned up again. Oh, I was in heaven, believe me. I think, but dont quote me on this, as I was in so much bliss by then, it got turned up again just before the timer kicked in, and switched it off. I suspect there is more, and over the next 4 weeks, I’m sure I will experience more, as she tries to see if I have actually got an electricity limit, but not sure I have! We will see!

Important thing, yes, its done a lot of good. I’m not how much was back improvement, and how much was my spine numbed by high voltage, but either way… Yes, its still easier tonight, for sure, though slightly less so, as I suspect the endorphin effect is wearing off! But still, I managed to bend down to be able to put the cat food bowls on the floor at teatime, instead of the usual last few inches drop!

As stated, I plan 4 more visits, which is about all I can afford, even with bonus due at end of month, unless she actually turns me into a robot first, which she might well try. Lets face it, I’m more likely to bleep at all that electricity, than complain! If anyone wants to pay for more, or wants me to suggest to her just how high that voltage should go, message me, and I’ll provide Paypal details lol!

OK, video time. I think I’m still only human, flesh and blood, though after 4 more weeks, I might be robot, circuitry, and wiring. Yes, I wish! So, something from the 1980’s…

I might want to dance

Alright, the title is a total misnomer, because even if my Physiotherapy repaired my legs that dramatically, I doubt I could dance anyway, have always had 2 left feet. I’m sure Clara Johnson used up all the dancing talent going, not that I entirely blame her for doing so, lol!

So anyway, today, for about the first time in a very long time (I’m guessing 40 years minimum), today I went for Physiotherapy, relating to my right knee. Yes, as a child, when I initially damaged them, and had all the surgery on them, I’m sure I had tons of it. But in truth, since the last major ‘repair job’ in my late teens, there hasnt been anything too dramatic done with them, other than a ton of walking, but thats me!

Yes, its fair to say things have changed a bit since then, in all senses. Back then, they pretty much took the knee apart, tried to clear up most of the damage, then did their best to put it together again. Yes, all that time on, I still have scars to prove it! Nowadays, they’d probably put one of those thin tube things into the knee, small incision, and clean it up better than they did back then.

Yes, the Physiotherapy is a bit different too. There was certainly no ultrasonic devices back then to aid with reducing the inflammation, and swelling, but there was today. In truth, I knew she was doing something with my knee, but really couldnt feel anything. Then the fun began! Something conductive wrapped around the knee, a pair of electrodes, and some slowly increasing surge through my leg, especially when I stretched the joint as instructed, oh joy! Now that was fun, though fine, me, and probably only me wouldnt have minded a bit more power being used, but anyway… I know, not quite Robot Girl, but its a start!

And yes, we did discuss what I write, and things. No, I dont expect a fully electrified body suit, in metallic silver to be waiting for me next week! Would be nice, but not going to happen! The good news, she doesnt think its going to need a knee replacement op, news I was delighted to hear.

But yes, fine, if my other sessions also involve nice amounts of electricity being used on me, if only on my knee, then my recovery should be fun! 😉

OK, video time. I settled on an artist, but then I used the obvious song, it didnt sound as good as it did nearly 40 years ago, so I chose this one instead. Hence the blog title, lol
