Can’t Get You Out Of My Head

In all my call center experience, all I’ve ever worked with, is what you would term, a wired headset. In other words you plug a jackplug into your phone, or socket box, and get all your calls through that. Yes, it limits the amount you can move, while working, but hey, thats fine, if you need to leave the desk, you just take them off, and move about freely. Otherwise, does it matter if you can, or cant move away from your seat while working, probably not?

So yes, you’ve guessed it, this workplace has wireless headphones! Yes, within a reasonable range, you can move around at work, while taking calls! Now, if you need to use your computer, you cant go far, but if you’re in the middle of a call which is all talk, and no do, it can be done, and yes, I saw it. OK, its amusing, because seemingly no one seemed to know how to set it up, so that I could listen in on calls too, but we got there in the end.

I’m told the main issue with them, is the lack of hearing your own voice, but I’m pretty sure I can survive that, in truth. I wont actually find out what thats like until I hit the main floor (if I ever get there, as it would be about 6 weeks, and I have got another better job in the pipeline), as the training center uses the old fashioned wired version, seemingly. Sadly, unless they’re saving that for post training, these headphones show no desire to send interesting signals into the headphones, and forwarded into our minds. Ah well… 😉 Oh fine, I’m probably the only one who would love that, but anyway…a promise that they would, might be the only way they’ll keep me lol!

Yes, Customer Service side of things, fine by me. Technical service though, which we’re meant to start training for, in a fortnight, hmm? I mean, lets face it, me, I’m more interested in being controlled by technology, than controlling it! But if still there, I’ll give it a go, at least.

Of course, I could equally be setting up for an acting career in the US…fine, I know, not going to happen, but… joke!

Fine, the video. Major hint in the title, and I’d love to have the chance to be dressed like the dancers in this, oh please!

Do the train commute with me!

Oh fine, I know, you’ve been waiting a week to hear the news about the job, but now I’ve got something else I want to tell you about, so…Fine, you can wait until tomorrow to hear about that!

Well, the good, and obvious news, I’ve survived the first week back at work, after too long away from it. Equally, I cant say I’ve enjoyed in the slightest, the need to be up before 5.45 in the morning to get to work, but fine, I’m getting there. In fact, frighteningly, so far the journeys to work havent been too bad. Had a couple of not so great journeys home (buses, not trains), but that was principally down to road works in town, and not the inabilities of First Huddersfield, though that may be being kind to them?

As to work, its been fine, but given the whole week (and next week) is dedicated to training, I’d be surprised if that wasnt the case at present. I’m the oldest in the group of 9, by far, and with the exception of one other, all are 24 or younger! Lets just say 3 are very loud, and leave it at that! No, sadly, I havent yet seen any sign of a silver bodysuit that we are expected to wear, or been told that the headset will have interesting effects on the mind, but I can hope I get offered that option at the end of next week lol! Headset is actually wireless, so I’m told, that will be interesting at least.

Alright, what other job related news can I tell you? I’ve been to other work places where tea, and coffee is provided for free, but this is the first (and probably last) place I’ve known where you’re provided with lunch for free! Yes, seriously, apart from travel card, I havent paid for anything all week! Just a sandwich/roll (and fruit option), but that suits me fine, so…For those fascinated, still waiting to hear on checks for other job at the moment.

OK, the video. Well, it vaguely resembles the blog title, shall we say? And no, short of mind control being used on me, or being rejuvenated into a 20 year old sex kitten, I’m not wearing a dress like this for commuting, at any time! Sheesh, how old is Kylie then, but…? Wow!

Shopping with ‘Jean’, and other tales of the last 2 days

So fine, picking up from where I left off last time around.

Yesterday morning, at 11.00, I was picked up from my hotel by S, and whisked back to Worcester, to catch the bus back to Albany. Another entertaining chat en route, which led to me discovering that in fact ‘Jean’ was still in my head, and just needed releasing, to make a show. First S did it, just to sort things out between him, her, and me. More correctly, him, my sub concious and me, but that’s just nit picking. Next thing I know, I’m told to do it for myself, and lo and behold, here’s Jeannie!

But before anyone gets any ideas, there are only 2 people that can wake her up, S, and me! Carla is safely tucked away though, before anyone thinks otherwise.

So fine, I’ve quickly discovered that there is a firm that makes Trans Pennine Express look punctual, and that’s Greyhound buses! Anyway, we finally get away from Worcester about 20 minutes late, and head for the Mass Pike, and the journey home. Big snag, accident on the Mass Pike, was a crawl (or slower) for the first 10 miles, and we finally reached Albany 2.5 hours late! Consolation, the most wonderfully sweet taxi driver on the way home, lovely guy, got a better tip than I normally would give, for sure!

Fine, it was well publicised on the news, and on websites that Albany was going to get hit by a big snow storm about the middle of today. So fine, I went out early, and not far, to a nearby Mall. Alright, time for a little fun, I let ‘Jean’ go shopping instead. Now, that was fun! Main moment of amusement, well it seems that Jean possesses quite a Kansas accent. Slightly combined with my own, but predominantly…

Fun moment, when I mentioned about flying back to the UK to one of the cashiers, given my Kansas accent, she asked me when I moved to the UK. I muttered some random year, and just left it at that! Alright, I did think about getting my sub concious to swap me back, change accents totally, (and huskiness of voice) and confuse her, but I’m a good girl, so I didnt.

By the time I got back out of there, the snow was in free fall, with plenty on the ground. Sadly this morning, I’d lived up to my blonde reputation, and only gone out in shoes, and a medium ‘strength’ coat, instead of boots and anorak. I knew it was coming, so why I did that…no idea?

Its different, seeing so much snow, when its only November. The last time I saw this, was about 2000, in Kirkenes, Norway, and thats the other side of the Arctic Circle! Mind, that was the beginning of November, not the end, so…

Right, you’re now up to date, and no, despite the clearness of the roads at least, I’ve decided to forego the Ice Hockey match in town tonight. I’m not the biggest fan of the sport, but if the weather had been good, I might well have gone. But now…

The video, sums up today’s weather really.
