The dream home of a robot?

Now, to be fair, I’m not sure if this place is really designed for a robot, or for aliens, but its just so cute, and so futuristic, and fine, I love it, and would love to live in one of these.

https://www.ecocapsule.sk/

Yes, fine, I think that actually, it is more like an alien spacecraft design, but anyway…I’d love to give it a try, and I guess, even if it was an alien space craft, and flew away, I wouldnt object too strongly? 😉

Oh, and on top of all that, its environmentally friendly too. Though whether that is just on Earth, or further afield too, I have no idea? And yes, it would make a pretty apt home for a robot too, especially as given the size of it, a recharging pod might be more applicable than a bed, anyway!

Fine, I cant afford it, even if it is far cheaper than any house nowadays. It equates to about £60,000 (just under $90,000), if anyone was interested in knowing, and buying one for me. Yes, if I win the lottery tonight, I could afford it, but at present, thats about the only way I would. And if I did that, I’d probably want a piece of 30’s heaven to live in, anyway. I guess I could put it in the garden, for my robot moments, mind?

But if someone else wins a fortune tonight, just think of me, and buy me this, and I could live as a happy robot for the rest of my life!

Yes, I’d love to go to Bratislava, and try out the prototype, but thats as unlikely as owning one at present, sadly.

OK, the video. Well I guess computers are needed by both robots, and aliens, and anyway, all things quirky tend to lead to Kraftwerk, so…

Not a model, but hopefully looking good

OK, before we get to the bit in the title, lets do the begging bit!

So fine, I have decided (in a moment of craziness) to actually launch a fund raising campaign, to at least partly (and hopefully more) pay for the costs of formally changing my name to Miss Stephanie Harlean Carpenter. Has a nice ring to it, doesnt it? Works all ways around, as those who know me as Steph can still call me that, but I can also legitimately use the name Harlean, as and when I want to. Lets face it, how many people use their middle name anyway? 😉

No, this campaign doesnt involve donating large sums of money, at a quick costing (allowing for fees, and things), £120 should be enough, though if it goes slightly over, it would be good. Fine, I know it wont, but no harm in hoping. Indeed, anything beyond what one wonderful friend has already donated would be quite something!

Fine, the link https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/e10ypc/ab/c2hJdb Even a couple of pounds will help, so please be kind, though more would be wonderful. But given that most reading this only know me through the blog, ah well…

Right, begging over, well in terms of giving to me at least.

Tomorrow night, I’m off to a fashion show. Its for a charitable cause in Leeds to sort of launch the studio for the people who I had my 2 photo shoot sessions with. Why sort of? Because its to launch the new studio, even if it has been operational for a while, this is the formal launch. No, I’m not modelling, just part of the audience, but it should be fun. The link, even though I know most readers of this arent local to me, is https://www.facebook.com/events/1608781949397731/ (apologies if you dont have Facebook, but its the only link I can find). Please check tickets remain before just turning up, just saying…

Yes, I will be there, using my old name, though if anyone calls me Harlean, I probably wont blink!

Lastly, the video. This is a Kraftwerk song, but this is definitely not their version! It is in German, but I’m sure you can cope, I prefer it that way anyway.

Robots are taking over the workplace

Question is, will they take over our jobs, or take over us!

Alright, fine, at this point that may be a slight exaggeration, but its coming, for sure. Just glad I’m at the back end of my working life, though fine, I might enjoy becoming part of the robot workplace, but thats beside the point!

Because lets face it, call centre work would be one of the prime candidates for an ‘automated’ workplace, lets face it! Mind, it was only yesterday I saw about a Japanese hotel where many of the work staff have already been replaced by robots. I know, its Japan, but in time…

Mind, to some degree, you are going to be part of the robotic system, because of all the wearable technology that many people use nowadays. Fine, at the moment, it only advises, or helps you, but how long before it tells you what to do, or just does it, using you as its mouthpiece, hmm? Because, mark my word (but sadly, probably not in my working life), you will become part of the technology machine at work, and in time, it will tell you what to do, not suggest it!

Who, me? Yes, fine, I’m just looking for one of those mad scientist types to turn me into a robot first, so I can control humanity…oh fine, I didnt really say that, honest I didnt… But yes, you’re right, I’d love it!

Now I’ve finished panicking the younger workers, who see their life under the control of technology, or being part of that technology, I’ll finish with the video. What do you think, what you might be, in the future. A new version, I think better than the original

She’s a model, and she’s looking good

(For those of you shrewd enough, and knowledgeable enough to read both blogs, they are the same tonight, just saying…)

Yes, absolutely no prizes for working out what the video delight is tonight, but you get a little (superior in my opinion) bonus on top of the English version of the song.

No, I havent officially taken up employment as a model, but today left me feeling like one, or perhaps more aptly, a famous film star, no prizes for working out who! 😉

I did a photo shoot before with Cocoture, when they were working out at Rawdon, and it was an amazing experience, for someone who had never done anything like that before. Yes, you’re right, thats where the whole Jean Harlow thing took flight, when people got to see the pictures from the shoot, and commented on the resemblance.

I’ve known for a little while, that they were planning to start up a studio in Leeds, so I held off on doing the ‘Seriously Jean Harlow’ photo shoot until then, simply because its so much easier for me to get there, and back. Anyway, today was the big day!

As a good model probably should, the day started with coffee. Yes, I mean the one at home this morning, btw. Unlike Jean, I suspect, I had to get my own! Anyway, about 10.15 or so, I set out for Leeds, complete with dress collection, and a pair of high heel shoes.

Fun started when I got close to the studio, I knew the address, but couldnt see any obvious signs. Anyway, I asked at the hair salon, and helpfully got guided upstairs by a wonderfully helpful lady. I dont know her name, but Karen probably will, when she reads this.

First things first, get the model looking her best, and Bethany did just that. Stylish make up, abundant curls all enhancing the look. To be honest, I know how Jean must have felt when having her’s done at the studio! Then Dave, and Karen had their time, first outfit, first change, and the ‘film star’ in me, took control. Dave has a good style, and combined with my confidence, and nous, as to what poses he might be looking for, the filming flowed. We passed through several dress changes, a number of accessories, and I had a marvellous time.

I’m not sure if I reached a point where ‘Jean’ took control, but I felt so much like a model/movie star being posed, that she might have done. Of course, we could be one and the same, but…?

Oh, and yes, guys, a short dress was worn, you should get to see my legs!

Then a fun thing happened, we filmed in another building. The ‘Leeds Club’ next door is a wonderful Victorian building, and we went off (with permission) to get a few shots there, in the gentlemans toilets. Not your basic humdrum place, this looked like somewhere straight out of the Victorian era, an incredible place for a vintage shoot. Yes, hilarity ensued, when a poor man walked in the entry door, to find 2 women inside, as part of a photo shoot! All went fine, we took one more shot, thanked him for his patience, and then back to the studio.

A few more shots, an appointment made for next Tuesday afternoon (after work) to view the photos, really looking forward to seeing them. I cant praise Karen, Dave, and Bethany enough for their work today, I certainly felt like Jean, at a photo shoot, I must say.

So finally, if you’re in the Leeds area, and want a really good shoot done, vintage, or otherwise, then I highly recommend Cocoture to you. Hopefully Karen can provide me with a phone number, or add one in the comments, as I suspect the only phone number I can find, is the Rawdon one.

Tonorrow, back to the day job in the call centre. Until Hollywood calls lol…

The video, Kraftwerk, The Model. Firstly, the English version

Then, in my opinion at least, the far superior German version, a very different sound too.

A robot’s music

I guess its fair to say that if you think of pop music, and robots, then Kraftwerk tend to come to mind. Not just because of the record ‘We are the robots’, though that would probably play a major part in it! But I think its fair to say the whole group image is built around the robot look, and to some degree, sound, as they have used a vocoder on more than a few vocals!

To some degree, I have to be very grateful to them, without doubt they are the inspiration for OMD, Ultravox, and many other synth based groups I loved listening to when I was younger. Reputedly they are a ‘bit strange’ to say the least. All sorts of tales exist of contact with them being extremely tricky, and as for doing interviews or anything…they like to keep their secrets, so it seems, possibly one of them being whether they are still human or not lol!

Enough changes of musicians in the group suggest they are, but… 😉

I’ve picked a song that isnt strictly about robots, though the image they give over of themselves in the video suggests that just maybe…but suspect this video might appeal to more, given all the women in it too. And no, I’m not amongst them lol!
