In the heat of the sauna?

I must admit, until now, whenever I thought of a sauna, I thought of the steamingly hot (or hotter) room, and a bunch of portly men, wearing towels, or the Scandinavian thing where people sit in very little, or less, in a wooden cabin, then run outside, through several inches of snow, and jump into a frozen, or near frozen lake.

What I have now discovered (and its probably been around for a while, in truth) is that there is something called an infra red sauna, which has none of that fun and games, and can also be set to a slightly saner temperature (mind 130-150 is still more than fine for me), and without any of the mess, or effort.

And yes, given the one thing my busted back loves is heat, discovering these, and more critically discovering that the place where I go for my brainwashing sessions, sorry, flotation tank therapy sessions has got one has interested me no end. Now let me say that in real life, I’ve never even seen a sauna, let alone actually been in one, but just maybe…? And yes, an infra red one, with all the ease of use appeals to an old crock like me, totally.

Yes, I love Christmas, and the New Year holidays, as it gives me a much needed break from the strains on my body. But it also means I have to go 6 weeks (instead of 4) without Physiotherapy sessions (Tuesdays were Christmas Day, New Years Day), and the back, after 5 weeks, has started to object strongly to all of this. Yes, to put it politely, my back hurts like hell, even if I try to hide the worst of it at times. Even worse at present, as temperatures have dropped away in last few days, so kind! Even the Flotation Tank option has been closed for the holidays too! But then they announced the reopening today, they mentioned this Infra Red sauna thing, I started to investigate, and…

I must admit, I’m one of these people who will give most things (excluding extreme cold) a try, so I suspect that if possible, I’m going to find out what its like, very soon. Even if its too hot for most of me, I suspect my back will love it!

OK, video time. I know nothing of this group, or the song, this was just one of those purely random You Tube searches, nothing more. But yes, I suspect that men, and maybe a few ladies might enjoy this video, somehow?

The Heat Is On

Oh, and anyone putting money on Glenn Frey, or Agnetha Faltskog being the video singer tonight, pay up, because you’re all wrong! This is the song sung more famously by one of that duo, but this is this versions original singer. So…?

Despite what numerous cranks, and a certainly ghastly, orange, bewigged person might say, we are experiencing climate change! This summer we are, especially. Not that in many senses I’m not complaining, because heat, and dry weather are far better for my thoroughly busted back than cold, damp, or heaven forbid, both. But yes, sometimes it can get a little too much. For example, some parts of Spain, and Portugal have been hitting 50C, which is over 120F! It hasnt got quite that hot here in the UK, but topping 30C/86F has become pretty much a regular occurrence this summer, even here!

Ironically, as I have discovered this week, even with all this glorious heat, if I try and overdo it, my back still complains way too much! Thats why I’m starting Physiotherapy on my back in Tuesday, even if I cant really afford it until my bonus finally gets paid at end of this month. But yes, needs to be done. It is my fault of sorts, I tried to do 3 days of travelling, and working in a row, and I’m now paying the price.

Oh, and agreed, I’ll be wishing for all this heat during the winter, for sure! If anyone wants to buy me a heat lamp for winter…? No, I dont mean the tanning type, just heat! Yes, I know, lottery win, lol!

But yes, thankfully my nice strong painkillers help me to sleep at night, despite the heat! But yes, honest, Mother Nature, if it dropped into the 70’s, I really wouldnt mind, honest!

OK, I’m not going to ask how many remember Noosha Fox, aka Susan Traynor from the 1970’s? But yes, the first person to record the song that helped Agnetha’s solo career, post Abba, this was it!
