Of course I’m a natural blonde, lol!

Yes, I only wish! But at least for a few weeks now, I might look like one! Thats right, the time was fine, the money was there, so I got my hair colored again today, long after it needed doing, but hey, fitting it in before now was complex! I must be the only person who wishes her hair would go grey, so that the cover up wasnt quite so critical! Ah well, cant have everything lol!

No, unlike Jean Harlow, I’m not a natural blonde. Just the opposite in fact, my natural hair color is quite dark, unfortunately, and sadly, still is at 58! I know, most would be proud of that, but me…Now, if only permanent hair coloring really was permanent, I could save a fortune. Let me add that Jean wasnt a natural platinum blonde, that was colored too. But she was a golden blonde, naturally, that just wasnt enough to stand out from the crowd though!

My only letdown today, I wasnt put under the hair drier at any point, and ‘brainwashed’. I know, not really, but at least when I’m under there, I can dream, but…never had that chance today! She has actually got one dryer that seriously looks like a brainwashing machine, but I’ve never been under it yet, so have no idea. It might be one of those things that looks better from the outside, as a concept, than actually sat under it, who knows?

But fine, I’m going to enjoy those few glorious weeks, where I look like a natural blonde as much as I can! Next trick, remove most of my hair, apart from that on top of my head, sometime soon! Yes, a nice (ha ha) waxing session all over! Most will be fine, but getting under my arms done, eek!

OK, the video moment. I must have noticed blondes by then, as I was 13 when she first became a star, but if I could blame anyone for being the first person to make me think I wanted to be blonde too, then Sally Carr, of Middle Of The Road would be a major culprit! Yes, Agnetha, from Abba added to the cause, but it was actually not until about 40 years after Sally that I first went blonde. I know, I love it now!

Firstly, as she was back in the early seventies. Yes, I know the outfits are dreadful (audience, and group), but it was the 70’s, and they were the trend then. Oh, I love her boots here too.

This is a more recent live version, and is genuinely live, for once, with them. Still got it, clearly!

The Perfect Call Center Worker?

Yes, hard to believe really, that this time next week, after 15 months (forgetting 2 weeks I want to forget), I will be a working woman again. Put it this way, I know its going to seem strange next Monday, going off to work again, especially as for one day, I will look the classy business woman, dressed in my black dress, though I’m pretty sure high heels will not be part of the outfit, unless someone wants to sponsor me for a large sum of money to do so? Especially if you were to offer it soon enough that I could actually afford a nice day out this week, before I get back to the grind.

In truth, I’d love that, even if I dont really need anything new, or anything, but hey, I could cope with a day at cricket, or a day at the races, or something, if anyone wants to offer? Just not tomorrow though, but the rest of the week, I could manage.

Why not tomorrow, I hear you ask? Simple, because I’m already booked up for the middle of the day. In truth, there are 2 things I really ought to get done before I go back to work, and one is getting my eyebrows trimmed/waxed, or whatever, and the other is getting my hair colored. I’m still working on whether I can afford to get my eyebrows done, on current finances (I think its going to have to happen, regardless), or not, but…Yes, fine, the hair really has to be done! It would have been due to be colored next month, regardless, but now it needs to happen sooner, just so I can look good when I start at work.

Is it irony if I say, sadly, its getting done by modern methods? I know, its safer to have your hair curled by modern methods, and todays coloring methods are far better, but anyway, fine, I’d just love, once, to have it curled like this

getting my hair permed

Yes, thats Jean, suffering for her pride, from ‘Libeled Lady’. Cant say she looks like she’s enjoying it, but fine, I wouldnt mind suffering like that, just once. Of course, the other thing that always tickles my imagination at the hairdressers is the hair dryer. Yes, the resemblance to a brainwashing machine is just way too good for me, especially the ones where the visor drops down over your eyes, and… Fine, I’d love it if there was 2 optional settings, one just to dry your hair, the other that did that, and brainwashed you at the same time! Sadly, never happened yet, and I suspect, never will!

Still, my new employers might appreciate the perfectly programmed call center worker, so if anyone knows how to arrange it, I’d love it to happen too! Or if someone just wants a perfectly programmed being, of any kind, then fine, I’d love that to happen as well!

One thing is for sure, I’m going to have to change how much I do online, once I get back to work, thats for sure! How much, not sure, but I suspect a fair bit, but I will see on that.

OK, the video. Its one of those weird, mind control type videos of sort, certainly not your average tame 80’s video, for sure! Much under rated song, I must say

A funny thing happened yesterday

Well, its funny, or amazing, depending on how you look at it, I finally got offered a job yesterday!

Yes, I know, amazing stuff.

The boring details, starting on the 4th of July (yes, for me, an ironic start date), I will again be working in a call center in Leeds. No, not the same one as before, not the one of the December debacle, but somewhere fresh. It is inbound, it is 5 days from 7, so yes, I will again suffer the ‘delights’ of commuting on a Sunday, but it has to be done.

I know, I know, I wanted something different, and ideally closer to home, but it wasnt to be. Yes, in the end, anything positive won out, I just hope it doesnt end up getting to me too much. I’m sure I’ll survive, and I’m pretty sure, knowing me, I wont bother to look for something better, as I probably should, but anyway…

OK, the ironical funny thing. I need to find money from somewhere! Nowadays, you get paid monthly, in arrears (understandably), but before then, I have to pay out for a months worth of travel passes (£150-160, depending how I do it), and I also have to pull myself into shape, as hair, in more senses than one, has been sort of neglected while I havent had spare cash. The obvious one, the hair on my head, which was soon due for coloring anyway, had to go ahead and book it now, while I can. But additionally, I havent been waxing anywhere since September! The big issue is my eyebrows, they probably need sorting with a pair of scissors, before waxing, in truth. The other area seriously in need, is under arms, but I suspect that they will be covered up at work anyway. Being frank, the whole body needs to get hairless, but besides that…Help!

I did consider doing a fund raising thing, but in truth, given the result of the last one, I cant see any point! I havent got anything to offer, but my sanity, so…If anyone does want to help, shout, and I’ll let you have some Paypal details, or something. Yes, I’d love to be ‘robot smooth’ apart from the hair on my head, but thats not going to happen without help! Fine, I’d love to be a ‘robot’ at work, but doubt thats on offer!

Lastly, by the morning, when I wake up, we should know if we’re still in Europe, or have decided to leave. Yes, I’ve voted, but no, I’m not telling you which, as politics, in blogs, isnt a favorite subject of mine! But fingers crossed, people make the right decision (or my idea of the right decision, at least), we will see.

OK, the video. Given most of my audience here are in countries that prefer their songs in English, I’m providing this version

Personally, I prefer the Bilingual, or French version, but anyway…they arent hard to find!

A full set of blondes

I could have told you about an interesting little project that I might be getting involved in, but lets leave that for later in the week!

So yes, lets have a blog full of blondes, including me!

Firstly, one of my favorite actresses/singers of all time, celebrated her birthday yesterday. If you believe some figures, she was 92, if you believe others, she was 94! Yes, Doris Day, movie star, singer, and well known animal lover reached a landmark again yesterday. And just think, but for a car crash, she may well have stuck to dancing, never been a singer, and without that, never a movie star…Yes, its amazing what fate can hold for some. Whichever birthday it was, I hope you had a good one, Doris.

Second one is me. Yes, being honest, I’ll be properly blonde again, after tomorrow. In an ideal world, I’d have had it colored about a month ago, when the dark hair began to show through too much. Understandably, due to the lack of money, I tried to put it off. But yes, fine, last week, it annoyed me too much, so as I can scrape the money together, its getting done! So yes, it will be back to a more Harlowesque sheen, and style, from tomorrow lunchtime on! I wish someone would create a color that made you genuinely permanently that color! It wouldnt be so bad if my hair went grey, a little (I’m in my late 50’s, after all), but no such luck.

Third one is Jean. Yes, she had a few quirks, which basically comes down to no nightwear, no bras, and no knickers. The first 2 I cant replicate, because of health issues with the former, and the size of my boobs in the second. The last one, well, I thought it sounded weird, until I tried it. Yes, like Jean, I discovered that my bits quite enjoyed being able to breathe. I only do it indoors, sometimes, never outdoors, mainly because its not as warm here as California!

Lastly, Blondie, aka Debbie Harry. No, nothing sensational about her, just a convenient video of her, at the David Bowie tribute concert.

Hairdressing methods, past and present

When you think about it, arent modern hairdressing methods wonderful? Safe colouring methods, relatively at least, clever curling tongs and the like, that given expert hands (and I put my hair in expert hands), makes it all look very simple, and safe. No, I have no desire to colour my own hair, I prefer to let someone who knows what they’re doing, do all that clever stuff.

But, back in the good old days, things werent always as simple, take a look at some of these delights!

Some of those hair dryers, yes, fine, they really arent (apart from styling) that different from what we use today, but seriously, have you seen that interesting machine that was used to curl hair in the 20’s and 30’s! As is pointed out, one of those isnt actually a brain sucking machine, but it sure looks like one!

Oh, alright, fine. Yes, they look awful, but would I give it a try, if I got the chance, of course I would. Hopefully it wouldnt brainwash me, but…a price worth paying, hmm?

Thankfully Jean Harlow only went in for Marcel Waves, which was still more of an art to do than modern curling tongs, but less drastic than that! A picture, to show you what I mean

The snag for Jean was, even if modern colouring methods still rely on bleach, the stuff we use now is a lot safer than the stuff they used back then. Also, she had the hazard of having her hair coloured virtually every week (to keep the platinum blonde colour), whereas mine is only done about every 2 months or so. Therefore, reputedly, near the end, she had the problem that her hair was beginning to fall out, over use of bleach, wrecking her tresses. Of course, we never got to know what the outcome would have been, given her tragically short life.

So, however much of a 30’s girl I might like to be, I might be grateful that we use more modern, and seemingly safer ways of colouring, and curling our hair now.

The video, a tribute to one of those brainwashing machines, sorry, 20’s curling machines
