Which outfit for Halloween?

Actually, thats a play on words, but it would have given the game away completely if I hadnt done that! Mind, within a few minutes, you’ll know anyway, but for now…

I must say that one thing I’m loving at work at present, though I’m not sure how many others do, is that we are making an effort to ‘dress up’ for certain events. And yes, even though Halloween is nothing like as big here, as it is in the US (or so I’m told, closest I got was flying home on 30th, but shops were full of stuff), it seems we can get to dress up in ‘scary’ outfits to celebrate the day this year.

Fortunately for me, its a working day, falling on a Wednesday this year. Even more fortunately for me, I’m not actually doing calls on a Wednesday at present, as its my day of the week for doing the studying to finish my apprenticeship course. Yes, I know, such a course at 60! I know how silly I think that is, but if it has to be done…I suppose its a break from the phones, at least? Actually got the first, of 5 exams to finish that off, so I might feel differently about matters tomorrow night, after that, but besides that…

Thing was for me, what to dress up as, for Halloween. Yes, the chances of me not getting involved were miniscule, lol, given I love this sort of thing, and if people dont support it, it wont continue. And no, however scary some of the movie robots might have been, they dont really count as Halloween, lets face it.

I did consider vampire, because fine, I find the idea of being bitten like that rather exciting. But given I cant do make up, it would only really leave the teeth, so… I’ll be honest, I’d been thinking witch, simply because its the easiest option for a woman. And lets face it, with my looks, I have less need to be made up to look hideous than most. 😛

Anyway, my friend Angie, that I know from Blackpool has been advertising lots of great outfits for sale. One of which was a gorgeous black hat, mask, and dress, for a witch. Thing is, the dress is a ‘few’ sizes smaller than ‘Miss Pear’ could wear. Yeah, about an 8/10 UK, whereas I need about a 16/18, ideally the latter especially if its a zip up dress! Not that I’m sure how I could study, wearing the mask, but anyway…

Well, besides that, a little later, a great looking red hat, this one in fact

appeared, and yes, purchase has been arranged. There shortly will be two of us looking for a suitable dress, in my size to match. Oh, and if anyone knows of a broomstick, that actually flies, I’d love one, especially as First Buses went absent without leave again on Monday night! Perfect for Halloween, but I might be tempted to use more often, if one truly existed, lol!

As stated, the need for make up, to make me into a hideous witch, might not be critical! Ability to cast magic spells, purely optional, though might be fun!

So yes, if you see a witch flying through the sky on Halloween, between Bradford, and Huddersfield, I might have struck lucky! 😉

Right, video time, something very silly, from the Muppets!

National Elf Service

No, despite the play on the title, this is definitely not political, just saying! Rule of the job, lol!

This morning, on that site we all love to hate (to some degree, surely), namely Facebook, I found a new day to celebrate something. Yes, seemingly a week on Friday, 8th December, its National Elf Day. Well, it is as far as the Alzheimers Society is concerned at least. I mean, there is a serious side to all this, because lets face it, Alzheimers, and the relating dementia issues are not a nice thing, and something that all of us, as we get older, have to dread getting. I know, some of us might quite like the idea of having our mind wiped, but only in a sci-fi way, not like that. And lets face it, wheres the fun in that, if you cant get the pleasure of being a controlled person afterwards anyway? 😉

Oh, you want proof? Fine!

So yes, if anyone wants to provide me with a suitable elf outfit before Friday week, feel free to do so, and I’ll wear it. Yes, at work if permitted, though definitely not on the bus on the way to work! 😛 No, I dont think First Buses are ready for the sight of a 59 year old, in an elf outfit, somehow! Mind, if I do, and you want pictures, it will cost you a donation to Alzheimers Society, for sure! Where?

Or if you prefer to do it through me, just to scare me as to how much money I can raise, I can set up a Just Giving page, if preferred? But yes, let us remember at this time of year, not just to think of ourselves, and present giving, lets also think of those who need support for other reasons as well.

OK, the video, definitely something new. The Barron Knights have been going nearly as long as me (Early 60’s), and incredibly, one of the originals is still in the band, even now! Basically, they’d take pop songs of their time, give them a little twist, and produce little gems like this
