Can Brain Stimulation improve memory?

Its funny, because as any number of my friends, and contacts already know, I was rather into the idea of having my brain electrically stimulated, even when it was working normally. Now that of course its not working properly, the idea of having it done to me, lets face it, is going to appeal even more.

So yes, when someone saw this recent news article

https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2019/04/08/711010354/scientists-test-whether-brain-stimulation-could-help-sharpen-aging-memory?fbclid=IwAR35ZgHsO8FygkVLd3i6zlorsAWkja8bZRy7lxRSIw9RRbY8zZ8wuA-_I4k

it wasnt the biggest surprise that they posted it somewhere where I would see it. Yes, they’re right of course, I’d love to be part of that experiment, even before my brain got messed up, and lets face it, what is there to lose by trying it out now, especially as it seems to have had some success? Alright, even more fun for me with a ‘bit’ more voltage, and a full bodysuit, in metallic silver, well… But yes, this, now, well, I’d love to think I’d make the ideal subject. Let me just point out this is done with a very weak voltage, not the dramatic jolt of ECT, so it should all be fine. And yes, the thought of having my brain connected up to numerous electrodes, at any voltage would appeal a lot.

But agreed, as someone wittily suggested, if it did go wrong (voltage, or otherwise), and turn me into a mindlessly obedient robot, I wouldnt mind in the slightest, would I?

But yes, its fair comment that if this ‘senior’ is ever going to be up to work again, her mind, and memory is definitely going to need sharpen up, so what could be better? Mind, given the state of my body as well, especially my back, the full robot makeover might be wise, for getting to and from work! Well, a flying saucer might be fun, but practically…

But yes, if anyone in Boston sees this blog, fancies trying a bit more experimentation, or trying a bit more voltage on a mature Brit, with brain issues, then why, yes, I’d love to! Even if they just want to give her a treat, then yes, I’d love to!

OK, video time. This piece of brainwashing is delightfully evil. Having said that, yes, I’d love it done to me! Who knows, they might make me think I’m Clara Johnson, former chorus line dancer? Equally, maybe they would really turn me into Robotunit 8, lol?

I am still human, I think?

Mind, after this morning, if someone checked the base of my back, and found a USB port, nothing would surprise me! There is actually an old posting on Fembot Central, clearly photo-shopped, of someone’s neck, complete with jack plug hole, USB port, and another similar item, seemingly within the lay of their flesh. As I say, not real now, but in about 30 years time, I wouldnt be surprised to see it in the slightest. Except I wont be around to see it by then, but anyway…

Ah, the delights of Physiotherapy! Oh, believe me, it was delightful. To be fair to her, she knows my kink, and is more than happy to play to it, believe me. I wouldnt yet be surprised to turn up next week to find a full electric stimulation bodysuit in metallic silver, knowing her! Probably not, but if she did, would I wear it, you bet I would!

So anyway, today started off going through the details of my issues, and some general back work first. Then I felt something placed over the problem area of my back, and next thing I know, is some delicious electrical pulses running through the area. Clearly I was enjoying it far too much (I was almost purring, to be fair), because the power got turned up, and then turned up again. Oh, I was in heaven, believe me. I think, but dont quote me on this, as I was in so much bliss by then, it got turned up again just before the timer kicked in, and switched it off. I suspect there is more, and over the next 4 weeks, I’m sure I will experience more, as she tries to see if I have actually got an electricity limit, but not sure I have! We will see!

Important thing, yes, its done a lot of good. I’m not how much was back improvement, and how much was my spine numbed by high voltage, but either way… Yes, its still easier tonight, for sure, though slightly less so, as I suspect the endorphin effect is wearing off! But still, I managed to bend down to be able to put the cat food bowls on the floor at teatime, instead of the usual last few inches drop!

As stated, I plan 4 more visits, which is about all I can afford, even with bonus due at end of month, unless she actually turns me into a robot first, which she might well try. Lets face it, I’m more likely to bleep at all that electricity, than complain! If anyone wants to pay for more, or wants me to suggest to her just how high that voltage should go, message me, and I’ll provide Paypal details lol!

OK, video time. I think I’m still only human, flesh and blood, though after 4 more weeks, I might be robot, circuitry, and wiring. Yes, I wish! So, something from the 1980’s…

How long would you like to dream?

One of the known issues with long distance space travel, is the length of time its going to take to get anywhere. Currently the ETA for a flight to Mars is about 6 months, and beyond the Moon, thats about as close as we can get in terms of space travel. So anything further than that is going to take considerably longer to get to, and people are going to need to be able to sleep comfortably en route. Lets face it, those poor Moon Astronauts couldnt have got that comfortable in sleep terms, given the size of their craft, but clearly those craft in the future, heading for Mars, and who knows where beyond (in decades to come) need to be able to get plenty of sleep en route.

The thing is, of course that a lot of those brave colonists probably wont have a lot to do on the actual flight there, aboard the craft, because their mission will be post arrival, not for the journey there. So, just suppose, instead of being bored of just seeing space passing by for 6 months, they could sleep throughout most of the journey, and be fine on arrival, and hopefully raring to go. Well…?

I gather the theory has been used medically for a few days, but for this purpose, for some, we’re talking months, let alone days, or even weeks. Would I get in one of those pods, and ‘hibernate’ for a while, you bet I would. Might actually do my back some good, as I assume the lack of daily stresses on it could only be beneficial to it? But no, I have no desire to go to Mars, or anywhere else, at my age! My time might not be quite that nigh, but I havent got that many years left, so I’ll leave the crazy stuff to the younger ones, thanks.

But equally, if they ever asked for volunteers, here on Earth, to test the system out, I would jump at the chance to do so. Hey, I say I’m suffering from a lack of sleep at the moment, that could certainly solve the problem, for a fortnight or so, or maybe more. Of course I’d hate the use of electrical stimulation to keep me physically fit, not! But yes, as long as they dont forget me, and I dont only wake up in 2070, or something, I’d love to do it, but doubt I’ll get the chance, ah well…

Oh, and one other amusing piece of more fictional science stuff, I saw this on MSN this morning

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/movies/downeys-original-iron-man-costume-is-stolen/ar-AAx2Vm9?li=BBoPWjQ&ocid=U352DHP

No, it wasnt me, though I would so love to wear something like that, I must say! That or the Metropolis robot would be my dream looks for a Convention, or something. But no, sorry, Robert, not me!

Fine, video time. A corny play on the whole hibernation thing. All I can say watching Andy McCluskey doing this, is think he’s about my age, and doing stuff like this, yes, I’m jealous. Amazingly fit, clearly!
