Going to make a sentimental journey?

First, sorry, 4 videos embedded here, would have been 3, but I’m a bit concerned about 1 for those with epilepsy/flashing light issues, so covering myself on that. Oh, and partly because the system set me up with an entertaining railway choice, concerning a line I would love to travel again now that I dont have work concerns, though that is before I see the rail fare, which will be a lot more than when I done it in the 70’s, lol. So yes, I’d love to blame Geoff Marshall, but I really cant!

Yes, today was the day the letter, and phone call settled the matter of medical retirement, so now I can think about a few things I want to do as an event, now I dont have to plot around work holidays.

Its fair to say there are a few rail lines, both here, and abroad that I want to travel on for the first time with luck, but there is 1 that I travelled over 40 years ago, in 2 sections, that I would love to do again, the Mid Wales line. So fine, when this appeared in my You Tube suggestions…

I had to watch it for old times sake, and all its done is made me want to travel it again more! There were, in the good old days, as Paul Whitwick would tell you, and indeed me, a number of lines that crossed Wales in this way, but this really is the only one left. Mainly because they werent all viable, but anyway…

The line does run through glorious scenery, but I still think that part of my determination to return is the fact that of all my Rail Rover hotel bookings, the only real disaster was my interim stopping point on that line. No, I cant remember which station it was close to, or even what station it was, but that was the only bad point on the whole journey, so a wrong needs to be righted, lol. I very much doubt the place is still in business anyway!

Maybe I can work it in with the Cambrian Coast line (not yet done) as both meet at Shrewsbury, and I do want to travel that line in full as well. So… Might need an overnight somewhere, probably Shrewsbury, as neither line has a ton of trains run over them! Hmm?

Right, apologies, 3 more video’s though really you only need to watch one of the Metroland ones, unless inclined. The live one is the full version, but as I say, lots of flashing lights, so if they disturb you, do not watch it! The single version is fun, but if you’ve seen one, apart from the clever animations, not much difference there.

Single version

And lastly, despite what might be insinuated, this is miming to the 1945 version of the song, its not even subtle in places. But yes, the title of the blog comes from

I’ll see me in my dreams

No, as far as I know, I havent been doing anything different the last 2 nights before bed, but I’ve been having some weird dreams.

Fortunately, or unfortunately for you, depending on your opinion on the matter, I cant remember the one I had this morning before I woke up. All I know is I was being prepped for brainwashing, or being mind controlled or something, and sadly I woke up before it happened! Hopefully, tonight, I might get a full night of these entertaining types of dreams! Sadly, only seems to happen around 5.00 – 6.00 in the morning, and sadly, thats a period of time I’m always likely to wake up, at an inopportune moment!

Yes, sadly, yesterday, I also woke up just as things were getting interesting, though that was a whole different scenario. Fine, it was me, but I was young, and decently pretty, so no idea where that look came from, unless it was some weird film that Clara Johnson got involved in, and our thoughts sort of merged into one for some reason? Time travel cross over, who knows?

Anyway, said pretty, and young ‘me’, was naked, apart from a headband around my head, that had what looked like a string of electrodes on it, to my eyes at least. Firstly, given a whole load of commands to carry out, which I did, blankly. Anyway, after all that, we were seemingly ‘rewarded’ for our good behavior, by pleasuring another of the group of mindless female slaves.

So there was I, blankly eating out my female accomplice, when I woke up, shame! Now, whether I object to the fact that ‘she’ never got the chance to return the compliment, or the fact that I’ll never know if I satisfied her or not, no idea? All I know is, there was I, happily fulfilling several of my mind controlled fantasies, and I had to go and wake up! Yes, I was aroused by it all, very!

Its funny, for all the stories I’ve written, I only remember this sort of thing happening once before, some years ago, and again, just as I was about to be turned into a robot, I woke up!

I know, they say there’s some significance in dreams, I’d just love to know what the significance was, of the one I had early yesterday morning! Promises, promises, lol…

Tonight, third time lucky? Hmm, I sure hope so! Alien abduction? Oh, I wish! But yes, if anyone has got any ideas, please let me know. And if anyone is the one controlling me to do these things, please dont let me wake up, just as it gets interesting! 😛

Right, video time. A real oldie tonight, from Doris Day

Take me dancing?

Actually, before anyone gets any ideas from that title, in truth, the answer is no, you really dont want to do that! Despite the fact that my past life self was a chorus line dancer in numerous musicals, it fair to say that she used up all our allowance of dancing skills, and left me with 2 left feet! Well, maybe she didnt, maybe its just the physical issues with my knees that held me back as a dancer, but in truth, after that, I couldnt get my legs to feel the rhythm, so like Doris Day, that was the end of my dancing career, if I ever had one! And maybe I did have the talents before the legs went bad, as I certainly won a couple of small contests before the accident, so who knows?

But in truth, however reasonable a dancer I might have grown up to be, I suspect I would never have been able to match Clara Johnson, and some of the routines she did. For example…

How they ever danced like that, let alone how it was ever choreographed, I have no idea, other than to say Berkeley must have been a genius. And just remember, this isnt your very top dancers, these are the ones just below that level doing this! But fine, he couldnt have done any of that if the dancers couldnt have performed it. Mind, there were times allegedly when the routines were just too complex, but of course, we would have no record of those. But even this is amazing to me!

Of course, I’ll never know if I inherited any dancing skills or not, now, due to the accident that wrecked my knees. Who knows, me as a dancer, or a showgirl, now wouldnt that have been fun? Then again, I probably wouldnt be posting this if that had happened.

But yes, there are times when this ‘old actress’ does wonder what her life might have been like if she could have danced too? Not that I will ever know, unless I can time travel back, to before that accident, and not get on that pony, and then see what happened…? I wonder how different my life would have been if that could be done?

Right, video time. A little bit of Carpenters. A lesser known, and pretty minor hit, but it works for this. Mind, unless someone mind controlled me to be the perfect dancer, this isnt going to happen now!

The one area of California I still want to visit.

Its funny, 51 weeks ago, I was reminiscing on here about a golf tournament in the US that I watching on TV, and saying how much I loved the area. Yes, Riviera, in Pacific Palisades, somewhere I suspect I may well return to in May, given that I suspect that unless ‘I make it’, it will be my last visit to the area for quite a while, if not longer. Because in truth, I have no idea how much longer my body will stand up to West Coast flights. And besides, 3 holidays in a row in that area is just way too much lol!

At the other end of the state, I’ve been to San Francisco a couple of times, and loved the city, which definitely includes that baseball park, and the view. And no, that definitely isnt the Oakland Coliseum, though I have seen a game there!

But in between the 2 big cities is one small area that I’d love to visit, though its easier said than done, for a non driver. Yes, thats right, and anyone that knows their golf venues will have worked out, is the area around Carmel, and Pebble Beach.

Fine, as I havent played golf in about 40 years (beyond pitch and putt/ par 3 golf), I have no plans, or desires to actually play Pebble Beach, but I have to say that the golf course looks amazing, and the views even more amazing! Oh, and fine, probably my main reason for going to Carmel is to visit the town, where a certain famous resident lives, though I wouldnt see her. Yes, Doris Day, who will be 93, or 95 this April, depending on which version of her age you go by! I have been a fan of her for probably about 50 years by now!

But in truth the whole Monterey peninsula looks amazing, and I hope one day to get there, though I suspect Doris might not still be with us by then. But fingers crossed…?

So yes, I might have been to California 5 times after May, but it doesnt mean I’ve seen everywhere in the state that I would love to!

The video. Probably one of my favorite Doris Day songs ever, though sadly the only live versions I can find (unsurprisingly) is from the movie, Calamity Jane. Fine by that, but it does mean she doesnt sing the whole song herself, but Howard Keel isnt a bad singer lol!

A full set of blondes

I could have told you about an interesting little project that I might be getting involved in, but lets leave that for later in the week!

So yes, lets have a blog full of blondes, including me!

Firstly, one of my favorite actresses/singers of all time, celebrated her birthday yesterday. If you believe some figures, she was 92, if you believe others, she was 94! Yes, Doris Day, movie star, singer, and well known animal lover reached a landmark again yesterday. And just think, but for a car crash, she may well have stuck to dancing, never been a singer, and without that, never a movie star…Yes, its amazing what fate can hold for some. Whichever birthday it was, I hope you had a good one, Doris.

Second one is me. Yes, being honest, I’ll be properly blonde again, after tomorrow. In an ideal world, I’d have had it colored about a month ago, when the dark hair began to show through too much. Understandably, due to the lack of money, I tried to put it off. But yes, fine, last week, it annoyed me too much, so as I can scrape the money together, its getting done! So yes, it will be back to a more Harlowesque sheen, and style, from tomorrow lunchtime on! I wish someone would create a color that made you genuinely permanently that color! It wouldnt be so bad if my hair went grey, a little (I’m in my late 50’s, after all), but no such luck.

Third one is Jean. Yes, she had a few quirks, which basically comes down to no nightwear, no bras, and no knickers. The first 2 I cant replicate, because of health issues with the former, and the size of my boobs in the second. The last one, well, I thought it sounded weird, until I tried it. Yes, like Jean, I discovered that my bits quite enjoyed being able to breathe. I only do it indoors, sometimes, never outdoors, mainly because its not as warm here as California!

Lastly, Blondie, aka Debbie Harry. No, nothing sensational about her, just a convenient video of her, at the David Bowie tribute concert.

A Winter Wonderland?

Yes, I know a few people who were hit by the snow storm over the weekend, on the East Coast of the US. Thankfully, as far as I know at least, all are fine. As an added treat, Storm Jonas is now heading for the UK, but thankfully (I think?) by the time it gets here, having crossed the Atlantic and all, it wont be snow that hits us, it will be rain. Mind, given how flooded some areas have been in Yorkshire, I’m not sure that a possible 4 inch dump of rain is necessarily a good thing?

I have seen several feet of snow on the ground before. Thankfully, I was on a nice warm train, crossing the Rockies in the winter of 2003. And by the time I got off the train briefly, in North Dakota, it wasnt snowing, but was exceedingly cold! Minus 25F, dont ask me what that is in centigrade, but its cold. But of course, much of the snow had been swept off the platform, so all was fine.

Thats not to say I havent been out in a snow storm, because I have. November 2014, in Albany, I experienced a snow storm where 11 inches of the stuff was dumped on the city. Do you know what, the buses kept running, though admittedly, that was down a main road, I’m not sure if it was the same on lesser routes, but…they were used to it, nothing ground to a halt, unlike when we have more than an inch over here, probably less!

I’ve seen pictures of New York, I’ve also seen pictures of more rural areas, and the way the snow built up, is quite amazing. Yes, I know, public transit was stopped in places, roads were closed in a few too, but I do think that was wise on the whole.

Who, me, I prefer California weather, I think. Last night I was watching the golf, from Palm Springs, much more my kind of weather lol!

Given that one dear friend on Long Island, said he would do nasty things to anyone singing ‘Let It Snow’, I thought I’d better choose something else for the video tonight, so you can have this Doris Day track instead.

Sentimental Journey

The last time I was in Jersey, I went in a betting shop during the evening. Anyone in the UK now, will be reading this, and saying, so what? Simple, back in the early 80’s (either 81, or 82), betting shops in this country closed at 6.30 pm, whether racing was over or not. But in Jersey, strictly part of the UK, but with its own governance, the betting shops, in summer, used to stay open. Ironically, I wasnt actually working in the industry at the time, but I had done so before, so the idea of going in a shop, when they were all shut at home, just amused me. To be honest, I probably only stayed a few minutes, but I could say, I’d been there!

Nowadays, over here, all year long, most betting shops stay open until 10.00 at night, every night! So much for progress lol!

I have this uncertain feeling about how this trip will play out. I’m either going to rediscover the joys of Jersey again, or I suspect, more likely, I’m going to find it so changed that I will regret going back, and not just staying with my memories of my time back then. But equally, this far more mature 50 something, is a very different person to that person, barely in her 20’s the last time she visited. So I might even like those changes!

I’m not sure how much I really remember anyway, I know that when I went back to Rochester last year (a mere 25 years), I didnt really remember anything at all, beyond the lake, and then, I saw it at a different point to before, so…

Oh, the other irony just shows how security issues have changed since then. Back then, in the early 80’s, as I wasnt leaving the UK, I could fly to Jersey without a passport. Nowadays, its still part of the UK, but I will have to show my passport at the airport to get through security, to board the plane…Ah well…

Oh, the video, the first blonde I grew up to adore, long before Jean Harlow came into my life. As is so often the case, the clue is in the blog title!
