The tale of the last few days, good news, and bad

So fine, lets at least start on a positive note, I could do with one at present. At least I think its positive, until the prize arrives at least!

A couple of weeks ago, I saw notice of a competition being run on Twitter, by a company called Fabulous Times. You had to select your favourite vintage pin up, and I tried a change of fortune, by selecting Jayne Mansfield. Yes, she’s blonde, and has a fine pair of, err, eyes. Well, something else really, but anyway…

Yesterday I had an email telling me that I’d won the competition, an absolute first. Given that the company that the voucher was for, is called Corset Story, it gives away their most popular sales item, I guess? And yes, even with a £50 voucher limit, there were some gorgeous ones there, that would restrict my waist quite tightly, if only I could lace them up behind my back! No, unlike Jean, I dont have a maid to tighten it up for me, I wish! And no, due to the limited flexibility in my wrist joints, there is no way (unlike the lady in the video tonight) that I could lace myself up.

So I resigned myself to buying a very nice dress instead, and leaving it at that. But…I asked if there were any that required very little, or no actual lacing while wearing it, and lo and behold…

Yes, I know, 1-2″ is not the same as pulling my waist in about 4″, but its better than nothing! And I should be able to put it on myself. 🙂 I do (somewhere, no idea where it is though) actually own a corset that would reduce me by about 4″ or so that is designed so I can lace it up from the front, but…as I say, its somewhere in my room, with the emphasis on the word somewhere, so this is more likely to get used.

Of course, if someone wants to act as my maid, and lace me up tightly, I could do a major search in my room to find it, but…No, thought not! If you need a clue how its done…

Right, fine, the less cheery news. Today, I can honestly say I did a phone interview, and it wasnt good. Alright, it was worse than that, as I had a total brain freeze when a question I hadnt planned for came up, and that was that! It was going OK until then, but that blew it, and I knew it. Yes, 5 minutes later, unsurprisingly I got the email telling me just that!

Also, someone rang here re an interview yesterday, while I was at the agency in Leeds, and hasnt rang back yet. Plus, I had an email last night from another agency, asking me to ring them re another job I’d made the short list for. I rang this morning, she was busy, no call back. Rang again this afternoon, yes, she had the message that I rang, but she still hasnt called back, aargh! If they try tomorrow, well…

Oh, and the hypnotherapy course that I thought I did so well at, at the weekend, been told they dont want me to continue. Alright, I do wonder if there is an element of ‘politics’ in this decision, given a friend of mine, and her relations with the guy behind the course, but anyway…Yes, very annoyed, though I do have another option if I decide to go forward with it anyway, so…

Tomorrow, I get to actually go to an interview in Wakefield. Yes, there will be competency questions (I know, but at least I have in theory been fed what they will ask), but there will also be a brief display to do, should be fun! After that, to the Job Centre, and sign on, a bit late, but they know I will be, so all fine.

Yes, its getting to me, I need that lucky break. No, I’m not yet planning on standing on the street corner, in a short skirt, but…rolls eyes!

Wish me luck, I need it. Well, other than for winning competitions to give me an hourglass look, at least!

The Weather Girl

Yes, its the latest in the series of little character pieces I do from time to time, well as much as I can gather from Forum stuff anyway. Some might not know the weather girl side of Jo as much as the MC writer, bondage lover, and mass forum poster, and yes, I’ve been told she has nearly as many postings on the weather forums as she does on the MC ones, I just dont know how she does it?

The amount of work Jo puts in at the Garden is amazing, but then there are all these other places she haunts as well. Throw in the writing, the reviews, and the time she is tied up on the computer (pardon the obvious play on words), and I have to say she amazes me. And apart from one or two minor tiffs over the years (mainly over my lousy grammar in stories), we have got on really well for a very long time. Most fun of all is that I have a pic of her on my laptop, not revealing facially, but…lets just say I have a slight idea of her figure lol! 😉

I know roughly where she lives, but no, she’s safe, its an area of northern NY state that its narrowed down to, and no more than that. Mind, I’ve got the feeling that she wouldnt mind me coming and tying her up, but anyway… Jo is great fun, taking teases and wind ups really well it has to be said, though I’m far from the main culprit at doing that. She’s also very dependable, and a really nice person to ‘know’ too.

Oh, one thing I dont have in common with Jo, her competitiveness in fun contests, something I really lack, but anyway…The main entertainment has to be the NASCAR pick threads, though the NFL ones can be ‘entertaining’ too at times. One related thing we do have in common, 2 Bills fans! 🙂

Like everyone on the Forums, I do respect her privacy as she wants it. That doesnt mean that I wouldnt love to see 2 visitors next year from Northern NY state on my trip to New England, and I’m sure Kate feels the same way. So yes Jo, you can take that as a hint! 😉 While hinting on  such matters, yes Heather, I could be talking about you lol! As Kirsty McColl said in ‘Walking Down Madison’, ‘its not that far’ for either party to travel, possibly easier for us at present, but…?

The song, well I did think about the Weather Girls, but given Jo’s preferences, ‘Its raining men’ didnt seem quite so apt. And I certainly was not going to post a certain Rush song, lol! So whats less subtle than a song called…

Its NASCAR, but not as we know it!

Apologies for the play on the Star Trek thing, if any trekkies get to read this! Ironically its not quite Jim that provides a lot of the entertainment, but its close, being James.

Alright, this posting only really works for Garden members who read this, but I suspect the majority are anyway.

Most weekends, generally on a Sunday, there is soimething called NASCAR racing in the US, I know its car racing, but beyond that my knowledge about it could be written on a postage stamp! I have a handy website which helps me to be competitive, but I’m not giving away trade secrets here lol! Without it, I wouldnt have a clue, and couldnt pick out one driver if they stood in front of me. Mind, they are so well clothed (much needed) that I suspect I might not be the only one.

In theory there are 11 of us in this, though 2 seem to focus on picking via the lucky dog method only lol. So that should leave 9 trying hard to win it? Nope, leaves 7 trying to win it! And 2 trying their hardest to be, err, well, last! Give James credit, he’s got this off to a fine art, much as Freeze Frame has got picking good drivers off to the same fine art. But this year James has had competition on the bad driver front, much to people’s amusement. Trouble is, Rosie isnt so good at it lol! Good enough to be well and truly one but last, but nowhere near as bad/good as James at it.

I like James a lot, and plan to write more about this great guy sometime soon. But yet again this week, James seems to have stopped his driver, and Rosie hasnt! Its probably just as well the drivers dont know about all this! My driver yet again seems to have run well for most of the race, then drops right back when it counts. I’m not competitive, but all the same…

One day I must watch one of these races lol!
