Not a model, but hopefully looking good

OK, before we get to the bit in the title, lets do the begging bit!

So fine, I have decided (in a moment of craziness) to actually launch a fund raising campaign, to at least partly (and hopefully more) pay for the costs of formally changing my name to Miss Stephanie Harlean Carpenter. Has a nice ring to it, doesnt it? Works all ways around, as those who know me as Steph can still call me that, but I can also legitimately use the name Harlean, as and when I want to. Lets face it, how many people use their middle name anyway? 😉

No, this campaign doesnt involve donating large sums of money, at a quick costing (allowing for fees, and things), £120 should be enough, though if it goes slightly over, it would be good. Fine, I know it wont, but no harm in hoping. Indeed, anything beyond what one wonderful friend has already donated would be quite something!

Fine, the link https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/e10ypc/ab/c2hJdb Even a couple of pounds will help, so please be kind, though more would be wonderful. But given that most reading this only know me through the blog, ah well…

Right, begging over, well in terms of giving to me at least.

Tomorrow night, I’m off to a fashion show. Its for a charitable cause in Leeds to sort of launch the studio for the people who I had my 2 photo shoot sessions with. Why sort of? Because its to launch the new studio, even if it has been operational for a while, this is the formal launch. No, I’m not modelling, just part of the audience, but it should be fun. The link, even though I know most readers of this arent local to me, is https://www.facebook.com/events/1608781949397731/ (apologies if you dont have Facebook, but its the only link I can find). Please check tickets remain before just turning up, just saying…

Yes, I will be there, using my old name, though if anyone calls me Harlean, I probably wont blink!

Lastly, the video. This is a Kraftwerk song, but this is definitely not their version! It is in German, but I’m sure you can cope, I prefer it that way anyway.

She’s a model, and she’s looking good

(For those of you shrewd enough, and knowledgeable enough to read both blogs, they are the same tonight, just saying…)

Yes, absolutely no prizes for working out what the video delight is tonight, but you get a little (superior in my opinion) bonus on top of the English version of the song.

No, I havent officially taken up employment as a model, but today left me feeling like one, or perhaps more aptly, a famous film star, no prizes for working out who! 😉

I did a photo shoot before with Cocoture, when they were working out at Rawdon, and it was an amazing experience, for someone who had never done anything like that before. Yes, you’re right, thats where the whole Jean Harlow thing took flight, when people got to see the pictures from the shoot, and commented on the resemblance.

I’ve known for a little while, that they were planning to start up a studio in Leeds, so I held off on doing the ‘Seriously Jean Harlow’ photo shoot until then, simply because its so much easier for me to get there, and back. Anyway, today was the big day!

As a good model probably should, the day started with coffee. Yes, I mean the one at home this morning, btw. Unlike Jean, I suspect, I had to get my own! Anyway, about 10.15 or so, I set out for Leeds, complete with dress collection, and a pair of high heel shoes.

Fun started when I got close to the studio, I knew the address, but couldnt see any obvious signs. Anyway, I asked at the hair salon, and helpfully got guided upstairs by a wonderfully helpful lady. I dont know her name, but Karen probably will, when she reads this.

First things first, get the model looking her best, and Bethany did just that. Stylish make up, abundant curls all enhancing the look. To be honest, I know how Jean must have felt when having her’s done at the studio! Then Dave, and Karen had their time, first outfit, first change, and the ‘film star’ in me, took control. Dave has a good style, and combined with my confidence, and nous, as to what poses he might be looking for, the filming flowed. We passed through several dress changes, a number of accessories, and I had a marvellous time.

I’m not sure if I reached a point where ‘Jean’ took control, but I felt so much like a model/movie star being posed, that she might have done. Of course, we could be one and the same, but…?

Oh, and yes, guys, a short dress was worn, you should get to see my legs!

Then a fun thing happened, we filmed in another building. The ‘Leeds Club’ next door is a wonderful Victorian building, and we went off (with permission) to get a few shots there, in the gentlemans toilets. Not your basic humdrum place, this looked like somewhere straight out of the Victorian era, an incredible place for a vintage shoot. Yes, hilarity ensued, when a poor man walked in the entry door, to find 2 women inside, as part of a photo shoot! All went fine, we took one more shot, thanked him for his patience, and then back to the studio.

A few more shots, an appointment made for next Tuesday afternoon (after work) to view the photos, really looking forward to seeing them. I cant praise Karen, Dave, and Bethany enough for their work today, I certainly felt like Jean, at a photo shoot, I must say.

So finally, if you’re in the Leeds area, and want a really good shoot done, vintage, or otherwise, then I highly recommend Cocoture to you. Hopefully Karen can provide me with a phone number, or add one in the comments, as I suspect the only phone number I can find, is the Rawdon one.

Tonorrow, back to the day job in the call centre. Until Hollywood calls lol…

The video, Kraftwerk, The Model. Firstly, the English version

Then, in my opinion at least, the far superior German version, a very different sound too.

Who is that girl?

Might be a question I’m asking myself at some point tomorrow, during the photo shoot. Is it me, being Jean Harlow, or is it Jean Harlow, being me, being Jean Harlow, or…are we one and the same? As I havent yet had my past life regression done, I cant answer the latter, but I doubt it, much though it would be amazing if true!

A while back, I had a photo shoot done, with Karen and Dave, and though at the time I was just looking for a vintage style look, one answer came out a lot, after I finally was able to post the photos, and that was that I looked just like Jean Harlow. A couple of examples, to make your own call…

But yes, once I could accept being compared to such a glamorous woman, I could see their point!

The difference this time around, is that we arent messing about, we’re aiming for the Harlow look, right from the start. So yes, the dresses might be a bit more stunning lol! The ones I’m taking along, include one that is above the knees, and a couple of midi length ones, so if you’re lucky, you might in time get to see pictures of my legs! Not sure that’s a good thing, but anyway…?

As far as I know, the only things they are planning to do to me, are my hair, and my make up, so I’m assuming that the Harlow mindset is down to me. Hopefully I can pull it off, in style! Of course, they may have some device (or hypnotist), that will make me think I actually am Jean, temporarily or otherwise, but I doubt it! To be honest, how much difference you’d notice lol…?

Anyway, I, or Jean, will let you know how it went in tomorrow nights edition, I’m sure, really looking forward to it!

The video, not A Flock of Seagulls finest moment, by any stretch, but it seemed apt, given I wont be certain if its me, or Jean doing the photo shoot tomorrow. To be honest, if I just let the inner Harlow flow, they will probably look better. To be honest, Dave, the photographer is so good, I will almost certainly be unable to be anyone else!

The next step of enhancing the Harlow look

Its fair to say that there are a number of things that Jean Harlow is said to have done, that I wont be following up on. For one, she’s supposed not to have ever worried about wearing a bra, but its fair to say her assets were a bit smaller than mine! Hardly surprising, she was 5′ 1″ and weighed about 110 lbs, so her boobs were hardly likely to be massive, lets face it. Had to be a good reason she was called ‘Baby’ lol. Me, I’m 5’11” and about 160!

Another strange thing to a modern woman like me, she never wore panties/knickers! Supposedly she liked to allow her ‘bits’ to breathe, though others have suggested it might also have been so that a man, and his cock could always get easy access, she certainly was no angel, from what I’ve read! Rumours abound of a couple of abortions, but as the certainty of facts on that is shadowy, lets not go into it. I have no plans to have sex, and am too old to get pregnant anyway, even if I wanted to, which I dont! Oh, and seemingly, she drunk a lot more than me too, though thats not hard!

Also, having seen childhood pictures of her, seemingly she was blonde, but not the bright, platinum blonde that she was famed for. That was supposedly created using bleach, a route I have no desire to go down. Of course, her hair eventually (supposedly) paid the price for that, as she was supposedly getting it done most weeks, though of course the kidney failure she was suffering would also have led to hair loss too.

Now, what I am prepared to do to enhance the look. As I mentioned recently, I’ve had my eyebrows arched a bit more, a la Harlow, though mine are still natural (what’s left of them), and not just a pencil line! I’m not sure anyone has even noticed, but anyway…

Oh, and the hair. Yes, I am getting it coloured blonde, though probably not as bright as Jean’s used to be. Though even if I did, modern colouring methods are far safer than the ones used back then! But no, I’m thinking a softer blonde, though my hairdresser might think otherwise. Yes, its being done next Thursday, and definitely 30’s style, something my fringe will be grateful for at least! Which hopefully means a few curls, so yes, I need to look for a curling tong, wave brush or the like, very soon! Oh, and I have to get used to longer hair, seen nothing less than shoulder length from that decade!

I will try, though no promises are made, to get a photo done, post hair styling for you. Hopefully it will only be the colour picture that makes you believe it wasnt taken in the 1930’s, but I wont hold my breath on that.

The video, another famous blonde

Oh, and a couple more things. I am now on Twitter, for those of you so inclined to follow me there. Tag (I think thats the term?) is @Harleanlook , and no prizes for working out where that comes from.

Lastly for tonight, the reason I signed up at Twitter, is an almost certainly vain attempt to become the senior (over 45) face of Coco, with the people I had the photo shoot with last summer, those wonderful folk at Cocoture. So if you want to boost me a little, go to https://www.facebook.com/Finestportraits?sk=app_451684954848385&brandloc=DISABLE&app_data=dlt-1 and vote for the Jean Harlow lookalike blonde, or me, at least. I’m the one in red, and the Harlow comment is also a giveaway. I dont expect to win, but a decent show would be nice

Isnt she lovely?

Given the problems of storing photos to post at the Garden, and the Forum, and the fact I get a few visitors from elsewhere anyway, this is a good way of doing this. So Miss ‘Merry Brooks’ is happy to show off a few pictures of herself, and await the marriage proposals! Yes, I’m joking about the latter, in case anyone gets any crazy ideas!

So what you ask, is the big fuss about? Well hopefully you might remember why. Back in the summer, I had a photo shoot done at Rawdon, near Leeds, with 3 wonderful people named Karen, Dave and Hayley, shortly before my September holiday in fact. It was an amazing day, and when I saw the photos, I really couldnt believe how good I could look, quite attractive in fact, if I say so myself!

I got the album soon after I got back from Richmond, and happily showed it off to friends, and at work. Loved it, felt great. But…one of the reasons I got it done, was to use 1 picture as an author profile picture, for my ebook stuff. Initially I wasnt greedy, given I wasnt paying for the whole CD of the shoot, and just asked for 3 pictures. As some might know, they took a while to get here, Boxing Day in fact. But, I got the whole shoot sent to me, a wonderful consolation. Today, being a day off, I finally got chance to sort them out, and save some, and post a few. So yes, anyone coming here from Facebook, you should have seen these amongst the collection there, already! Those who get here by other means, well, here’s a treat for you!

Firstly, the picture of the stunning looking author,

A really nice shot of me, I must say

Next, a pair of more styled shots

Seriously, if interested, I could get plenty of dates with looks like that, I should think! Might need Hayley to do my make up first, I havent bothered much in recent times, but…

For anyone in the Yorkshire area, looking for a really good, and well handled photo shoot, this trio come very highly recommended. Their website is http://www.cocoture.co.uk and you can make contact through there, or for those coming through Facebook, like Cocoture, you wont regret it. Would I do another with them, you bet I would, and probably will, in good time. Just say Stevie Lou sent you… 😉

The video, well, maybe this is stretching claims for me a bit, but looking at these, not much!
