How deep is the first cut?

Given the lack of replies I get when I normally ask questions in my blogs (post here, Facebook, Twitter, or email to robotunit8@hotmail.com as preferred), I’m probably wasting my time asking another question here, but someone might surprise me, so…?

As most regular readers should know by now, my back/spine is now very painful, and earned me official disabled status. People will also know that I’m crazy enough to try just about anything that might ease some of the pain, beyond short term aid, and I’ve had another new, slightly different idea suggested to me by one of the guys at work.

Forgive the spelling if I get it wrong, as I can only take guidance from Google, and however good it is, I know its not perfect, but its been suggested that I try Cupping (Hijama Cupping) to see if it will ease the issues in my back at all. I have no idea if it will help or not, but I must admit the images of it do intrigue me, but at the same time, make me a little nervous. So yes, what I’m asking is, has anyone had this done to them, is it painful to any great degree, and did it do them any good? Oh fine, I’m assuming from the fact that it was suggested to me, by a Muslim man, that Muslims have no objection to doing this treatment to white, Christian women, lol?

If you’re curious, and want to know what it looks like, then I suggest going to Google, and searching for details. But basically, from what I can see, a series of cups are suctioned on to your back, and the skin is raised by vacuum inside it. Looks weird, but fascinating to me, and if its not too painful, maybe I should give it a go…?

Thing is, there are 2 things, one is called dry cupping, as above, and thats all they do. The actual Hijama one, which I must admit, I would love to do, but at the same time I’m nervous about, has a tiny cut made in the skin, within the vacuum cup, to let the ‘bad blood’ out. Still, at the same time as being nervous about it, there is also a part of me that would love to experience that! Crazy I know, but thats me summed up, crazy!

In truth, knowing me, I suspect I’m going to give it a try at some point, just because I’ll try anything that might ease the pain I suffer with my back, at least once. No, I still havent got to acupuncture at this time, but equally, at some point…Though I have read that would be better for muscular issues, rather than actual spine damage, but I have no idea.

And are there rules, that a non Muslim woman wouldnt know about visiting a Hijama Cupping Centre? Would I be expected to have my hair covered on arrival at least, as a sign of respect? There is a place in Huddersfield I can get this done, and I’m sure there must be places in Bradford too, but I have no idea how good any of them are? I’m suspecting Huddersfield would be wisest the first time, anyway, the nearer to home the better?

So any comments welcome, even if its ‘No, it wouldnt work for you’, or alternatively, ‘Just get it done as soon as possible, woman, and stop fussing’, or anywhere in between!

Video time. A man I knew when a child as Cat Stevens, who is now known as Yusuf Islam. Whichever name you use, the man is one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time, in my opinion. Oh, and given the subject (and yes, my fancying to try wet cupping), a rather apt song title.

Last cut is the deepest

Its hard to believe that its nearly time for the NFL season to start seriously again, but this time next week, we’ll be looking at the opening game, and Kate and I will be gently teasing each other, as its Kansas City, against New England, so that will be fun! Its just a shame that its 2 days before we could have watched it together, and stirred each other up together, but such is life. The likely possibility, given New England wont be playing on the Sunday, is that I will get to see the Buffalo Bills, play the New York Jets, 2 teams that pretty much seem to be throwing away their seasons before they even get started. Yes, strictly the Bills are my team, but I’ve seen so much awful right wing, racist stuff written by their fans on social media of late (mostly about the anthem stuff), that I find it hard to get involved with them, in truth. Oh, and not to forget, the Monday night game, and my one chance this autumn to see the gorgeousness that is Jon Gruden! Swoon!

But why now, why the blog title, you ask? Well, tonight marks the last round of pre season games (other than the one in Texas, cancelled for obvious reasons), and after that, the huge squads that the teams currently carry, have to be trimmed back drastically. Most of those getting the chop will be players we’ve never heard of, but some of whom will either be plucked up for practice squads, or selected when injuries start to take their toll on teams. There will also be a number of relatively ‘more famous’ players who will be cut, for salary reasons. Again some will be plucked by other teams, some will get picked when injuries strike, but for a few, that will be it.

Before I sound too sorry for them, lets just remember what crazy salaries these people earn! In some cases, cutting 1 player cuts $6 million from a wage bill! But yes, for those young men, its still a tough time, if you’re the one thats cut. And thats on top of those who should have, but never got called to a team this summer…whistles innocently…

No, I’d have made a lousy cheerleader, even when I was young, lol! 😛

The video, you could say, as so often, there is a clue in the title. This is pretty much the original version of the song, Cat Stevens, from 1967! Yes, I really am that old, I was 9 then!
