Help me to remember

One of those moments that I blame for my fascination in brainwashing, was as a young child (well, pre-teen at least), was actually a comedy movie, one of the Carry On series, that will possibly mean nothing to my US readers, as it was a very British thing, a film called ‘Carry On Spying’. In one scene at least, the joke was that a very busty, blonde secret agent would have been brainwashed, only they couldnt find a brain to wash. Said blonde was an actress named Barbara Windsor, the butt of numerous jokes, for obvious reasons, in said series of films.

Well, given the strange, messed up kid that I was when young, it left me with a fascination of what it would be liked to really be brainwashed, and I guess it never went away. Then when a few years later, I saw Metropolis, and I was ‘ruined’ for normal life after that lol! In truth, I suspect the Cybermen, and others had already gripped my imagination, but those 2 things had big effects on me.

Sadly, its now come out that Barbara Windsor is being ‘brainwashed’, and not in a nice way, diagnosed with Alzheimers. So far in my life, I’ve been fortunate that no one I have been close to has suffered from it, but it must be awful, both for the person suffering, and their surrounding friends, and family. Who knows, maybe if I live long enough (and given my health issues, I have my doubts I’ll get that far), I’ll suffer with it too?

Oh fine, I’d love to be brainwashed with a nice sparking helmet, or even a non sparking helmet, wiping my mind, making me blank, and obedient, but this is a whole different matter. But yes, it makes you feel old when people you grew up watching on TV, and this happens to them.

Video time. Yes, I knew what I wanted, had no idea of the artist though, so thank goodness for search engines. I think its fair to say that Men In Black found their theme tune through this, though the connection is apt!
