Robot companion?

Alright, a double helping of silliness tonight, for those concerned with such matters. And for those who note such things, its a different blog, but the same video, I know!

Briefly, in case anyone reads this,, and can do the more serious side of this. Disabled lady seeks minder/companion for a 3-4 week period in September/October while others here are away. Demands are few (internet/food and keep/baseball would be nice), I just really need someone to keep an eye on me in case I have health issues while others are away. Meds should ensure I’m fine, but just in case… Somewhere warm – hot would be nice, but open to all offers. Why the companion thing, simple, I might be able to pay something towards keep, but not all of it, thats why.

But fine, the serious stuff is covered on the main blog, and this is meant to be all stuff mind control here, so…

(No, I dont seriously expect this, though it would be heaven)

The other option would be if anyone has got any suitable scientific/technology experiments they’d love a willing guinea pig for. Fine, I’d now make less of an issue for brainwashing than your standard person, but lets face it, thats why I need a minder in the first place! Still something there at present to erase though, if fancying an easier challenge. Of course, if your experiment involves testing out AI, to either take over from, or interface with the human mind, then I’m your perfect subject! Less resistance, both from the brain, and from the guinea pig, should be ideal.

There is the snag that if you’re planning on turning her into your sex slave, I’m a bit too old for most, but if you’re that good, a rejuvenation chamber probably isnt beyond your skills?

Even better of course, if you’re planning on transforming me into, or downloading my essence into a sexy robot body (or even a lovely chrome robot body, which I would love), it really doesnt matter how busted the old human body is, does it? Oh, and the fact I’d love that, bonus for all!

In truth, even if its just one of these research things, putting electricity through the human mind (EEG or otherwise) to see the effect, and has somewhere for the volunteer to stay, and be checked on, then great! There is also the blessing I’m in no state to run away, even if I wanted to, which I wouldnt!

Or some time travel type experiment, where I’m transformed into a cute, young flapper, and whisked back to the 1920’s, well…? 😉 Or turned into Clara Johnson, and sent back to the 1930’s, to earn my way dancing on the silver screen, lol?

Or more seriously, if someone just fancies an undemanding companion, with simple needs, but open to better offers. I would love somewhere hot (or pretty warm), but open to all suggestions, as lets face it, I wont be going out much without an escort!

Emails to robotunit8@hotmail.com if anyone wants to help out this old maid.

Fine, video. Cute young flapper, 1920’s thing, oh what fun, darlings! Film is from 1971, but fits era perfectly. Oh, and it doesnt have to be a boyfriend I need, darlings, just saying! 😉 (Sing if your glad to be bi, giggle). Oh, love that outfit Twiggy’s wearing…

Loving the alien

I must admit, when I saw earlier today that today was Alien day, I assumed it was something relating to our friends from Outer Space, who according to Eric at least, include me in their numbers. Yes, I only wish! I knew there was a UFO fair somewhere near Stacie, in New York State sometime soon, but thats 3 weeks tomorrow, seemingly.

No, this one relates to the film of the same name, which was first released to the public 40 years ago today. How many sequels have we have since then? Way too many I’m sure, as Hollywood seems to lack for original ideas, lets face it.

Actually, no, I’ve never seen any of the films? Modern horror has never been a big thing for me, as I cant see the pleasure in being scared to death. I know, I went and saw ‘It’ but my disclaimer is that I had no idea what the film was about at the time I agreed to go and see it. I survived, but put it this way, I wont be rushing to see the sequel!

But yes, I knew, even before my brain went AWOL that I was getting old. When you find out that the original Alien film is now 40 years old, it doesnt make me feel any younger!

Yes, I’ll stick to trying to make contact with those aliens with flying saucers, and spaceships, who are probably likely to do nothing more horrible than anal probing (eek!), or brainwashing (which I’d enjoy too much), sorry. Talking of which, if anyone has a place on a spaceship/flying saucer, heading to Pine Bush, New York in 3 weeks time, let me know. Alien suit coming off again is purely optional! 😉

OK, video time. One of those lesser known, but very apt David Bowie tracks from long ago.

Girls just seem to be dumb

No, before anyone jumps to assumptions, this has nothing to do with bimbos, and entirely to do with me.

One thing I have discovered in the last month, and a bit, post seizures, is that I have good days, when both brain, and body work to a reasonable degree, and other days when one or other is misfiring a bit, and the odd day when neither are all that great. Then you have this morning.

To be honest, when I got up this morning to start the day properly (as opposed to the 2 bathroom breaks overnight), I felt a bit off. Well, bit is being kind, the brain was just about functioning, and that was it! I mean, I could joke about knowing what its like to be brainwashed, but fine, it wasnt that much fun, and besides, no one was actually in control of my mind, quite literally!

I just about managed to get enough co-ordination together to make my breakfast, take my meds, and things started to improve a bit after that. I wouldnt say its been my greatest day thoughts wise, but I’ve managed to do some reading, I’ve seemingly managed to do a couple of blogs, so I must have something going for me at least? But do anything complex today, no chance. Thankfully I havent got to worry about anything complex like work for at least a couple more months, probably a whole lot longer (like forever) in truth, but officially, for now…

I wonder what it would be like to be actually brainwashed? As in emptied mind, presumably only able to obey commands, and nothing more. I know, I’d probably like the process far too much, and knowing me, might even enjoy the outcome, if I was then able to consider the fact, which of course I shouldnt be! As I say, first thing this morning, it felt like my thought processes were going through a big ball of cotton wool, or candy floss, but I still knew who Eric was, and I was still able (just) to cope with the mechanism of making my breakfast. Totally brainwashed of course, all that would be beyond my skills.

The other option would be to go down the opposite route, an AI upgrade for my failing brain. I know, I wouldnt mind the full AI brain replacement in the slightest, lets face it. Even better if it came with an upgraded body as well, but besides that… Of course, what about the happy medium, an AI interface with my own brain. Still me, but when the brain goes AWOL, as per this morning, it could take full control, or more generally, when I just need a bit of help, it provides that. Yes, I could live with that, but I’m probably the only person who might still be tempted to go with the full robot option, lol.

But yes, if anyone has an AI system that they want to try in interface with my brain, or in place of my failed organic brain, count me in as a willing guinea pig! In the meanwhile, lets hope its working a bit more efficiently when I get up tomorrow morning.

OK, video time. No, not Cyndi Lauper, but a band I’ve enjoyed for a few years now, Postmodern Jukebox, and their version of the song, with a 1912 feel, which is ideal for me.

Reading between the lines

Quite ironic writing this, given the other blog today was about Earth Day, and all the matters relating to helping to protect the planet, and then I do this one about a car journey yesterday. But fine, there is a special reason, even if I didnt make the journey then.

Yesterday, the other 2 from here went out for a while on a trip. Ella asked Eric where he wanted to go, and his answer initially was the coast, and then he added, Blackpool. To say both of us were surprised by his choice was putting it mildly. I mean, after all, the last time he was there, was collecting me from hospital at the end of my stay there after my seizures, and yes, he was on the tram with me when they happened. I suppose there is an assumption that he wanted to put it behind him, but who knows?

Put it this way, I do want to, at some point, go back to Blackpool, and ride the trams myself. Hell, I’m still hoping I can get back to work at the Winter Gardens at some point, though in truth, until I see the neurologist, I have no idea how practical that aim will be. My mobility was questionable at times before this, and as for now…? But yes, until I’m told otherwise, its still a target. But do it, yesterday, no way.

The other reason why I wouldnt have wanted to do it yesterday is the simple one, the matter of timing. A sunny, Easter Sunday, at one of the more popular holiday resorts in the country, for a very much disabled lady, I dont think so. I’m hoping, all things permitting, that maybe this autumn I can get there, (have 3 nights credit from last month, generously from guest house), see the illuminations, and ride the tram for the full length. Practical? Who knows, but it gives me a target at least at present. No, I’m not seriously committing to anything before I get the views of the neurologist, but hopefully I can still do something with my life at least.

Retirement on medical grounds sounds quite likely, but a quiet, church mouse type retirement, I hope not! Though I do accept acting roles might be beyond my realm, all the same. But to never see Blackpool again, I really hope not!

OK, video time. I must admit this song title always amused me, from a group I enjoy the music of. Funnily enough, despite the title, its nothing to do with Jean Harlow. But its about dreams, and how things dont always work out as planned. Thankfully I dont have any parents left to worry about! Prelude are great, please give it a listen, just for this old lady’s sake, OK?

It, the time warp version

Well, this wasnt the planned blog, but this will be far more fun, so…

Its funny, I went to post the other blog on Social Media, as per normal, which includes that pit of insanity known as Twitter. I know, I love it really (seriously?), but all the same… One of the things trending there tonight was Tim Curry, and my natural reaction, as was seemingly the one of several others was to hope he hadnt passed away. No, dont panic, he hasnt, its his birthday today, thats all. 73 today, Happy birthday, good sir.

So, yes, given I’ve mentioned him, you think its just a boring birthday blog about him. Now would I ever do a thing like that? No, this is one of those ‘be grateful to Stacie’ moments in fact. The afternoon after her wedding, I was relaxing at the hotel where I was staying, watching a bit of NFL when I got a call, asking if I fancied going to the cinema in the evening. I agreed to that, and asked her what movie we were going to see.

“It.” was the reply. Now for 98% (or more) of the population, that would clearly mean the Stephen King horror movie, right? Being unique in that sense, the only film that came to my mind with that name was the 1927 silent movie starring Clara Bow. Now I suspected it wasnt that, as neither Stacie, or Eric had struck me as the type who would be into 1920’s silent movies, nor was a local cinema likely to be showing it.

As you’ve worked out I’m sure, it was the horror movie (I gather the sequel is released soon?), with the scary clown, played by ‘you know who’. And yes, the other ‘It’ is still on my list of movies to see at this time. The only Bow movie I have seen in full, being the Oscar winning ‘Wings’.

But yes, for me, the archetypal Tim Curry movie in my life, is naturally ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’, and hopefully always will be. Yes, I would have loved to have acted (and would still love to act in) in a production of that, believe me! So yes, thats where I’ve gone for the video tonight, the famous Time Warp song. So all together now…

Diversity inclusive adverts

I’m not normally a big one for adverts, but this one, from the behemoth that is Amazon has just amused me enough to feature it tonight. Fine, it helps I’m lacking for material for this blog, but anyway…

As someone who used to be a passable, but lazy cook, this catches my eye. Yes, I wouldnt have a clue where to start in cooking duck, but besides that… I certainly couldnt now, anyway, Alexa would have to cook it entirely now, as I am now down to basics like putting ready meals, or pizzas into an oven, and in truth was before the seizures, but most definitely am now. Yes, seriously, a Stepford wife cooking download is now a must, lol. Well, full Stepford Wife makeover ideally, but if anyone wants me to cook like an angel, that would be a must.

Given I dont know if this advert is seen outside the UK, or not, lets go it briefly. We see her getting dinner ready for her love, that night, clearly for a date. Duck gets overdone, so the trendy young millennial calls her dad for cooking advice. At this point let me say I dont know if he’s some random dad, a famous cook, or whatever? Fine, I have no idea if she’s anything more than ‘random actress’ either, in truth.

Where the fun starts for me of course, is once the new meal is prepared, and the door bell rings. He asks his name, she hastily, says thanks, and gets Alexa to end the conversation. Look at the screen at the end, it says ‘Dinner with Sam’. Now is she being evasive because she doesnt want dad to know who it is regardless, or is it because Sam isnt a he, and how dad might react to that? Sam, Samantha, after all?

Of course, unless Amazon ever make a follow up ad, which I suspect they never will, we will never know.  Fine, I know, its only a LGBT person who might think too deeply about this, though the video comments clearly show I’m not the first, all the same.

So what do you reckon about Sam? Male? Female? Who cares? Regardless, for those who’ve seen the ad, you’ve got a quick pass tonight. For those who havent, what do you think?

Black is black

For those of those fortunate enough to see both blogs, this is the more cheering event, though its also the one, like so many LGBT related events that I wish we didnt have to celebrate. I know, things were very different in 1947 America, though in truth, it took decades after that before things really improved, and rather like LGBT issues, I’m not certain that its really been settled as yet, especially with the current political situation there. For more details of the events than I wish to just repeat, go see

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_Robinson

for all of the details. The only thing of which I can be really proud is that it was my beloved Dodgers (then in Brooklyn) who took the first move to right matters. His shirt number was 42, and this is why today, all players, on all teams, and tomorrow, for the teams not playing today, will be wearing that shirt number for 1 day. Yes, the first game played by Jackie Robinson, African American baseball player, in the Major League was on April 15th, 1947.

The funny thing is, as the article points out, he wasnt actually the first African American to play Major League Baseball, he was just the first to do so since 1884, and fine, media was pretty limited back then, and segregation was pretty awful back then, so they were conveniently swept over. In truth things werent great in 1947 for Robinson, as players, and teams refused to play with/against him back then, with little impunity. To be fair to the Dodgers, and the MLB they came down relatively firmly on these people, but only so much could be done at a time when racism was sadly rife. Funny thing is, he never played in Los Angeles. He retired in 1956, and it was 1958 before they moved across the country, to become Hollywood’s team.

Oh, and to say the Dodgers have always been forward on equality matters? First team to let a female journalist into the locker room (1974), the first team to have a female lead trainer (2012), and way back in 1941, the first team to get their players to wear helmets! Oh, and probably the only team that will ever have the same person commentate on the team for 67 years too. Yes, Vin Scully, of course.

No, the Dodgers play tonight in the middle of the night, my time (3.00 am start) so I wont see them play, but there is one extra thing for me tonight, a player of course for once, wearing 42, Clayton Kershaw. He makes his first start in the Major League tonight, after injury, having spent the last couple of weeks amusingly, in Oklahoma. I suspect he flew to Los Angeles, unlike Clara, who I assume arrived by train, though that was from Texas, according to her Census records. When she moved to Texas, I have yet to discover, all I know is she left for LA in 1925 at this point. That might need to be one of my challenges in life, discovering more about her, assuming my retirement is made official, after the neurologist has checked me over. So I might yet find her married name, and later life, lol!

Alright, the video is corny, though it might appeal to my male readers. And yes, I’d love a pair of those gold trousers, if anyone is offering…?
