Bite me baby, one time

Anyone thinking you’re getting Britney for the video, you’re wrong, lol!

Fine, it would be remiss of me to ignore an event coming up tomorrow. For those of us of Gaelic ancestry, we call it Samhain, for millions of others, its known as Halloween! So, being silly, lets focus on the latter, for once.

Tomorrow, at work, we have the chance to dress up in something suitable for Halloween, so I will be going in as a witch. Well, more likely I will be turning into a witch at work, but other than that…and fine, the hat, and the bus doors wouldnt work together anyway, lol!

No, sadly, as I write, I havent got a broomstick that can fly to commute to and from work, though I would love it if I had. So if anyone has one to spare, that they can get to Huddersfield for 9.00 tomorrow morning, please send. Fine, if its only available from tomorrow evening, just send it to work, at Bradford, and I would at least come home that way. Yes, I would, absolutely, given the chance! Fine, the alien spacecraft would be even better, but thats hardly Halloween, lets face it?

So, OK, waking up in the morning, or even at work, putting on that outfit, and discovering I really had witch skills, heaven! I’d try to be good, but fine, if someone really annoyed me, I might get naughty, and then…? πŸ˜‰

But yes, Halloween related, and in truth, being the submissive female, you know what would really turn me on? Yes, being the victim (if I considered that the right word?) of a vampire, biting into my neck, and, sucking, and, ooh! I know, for real, probably not fun being the thrall of a vampire, but fine, I’d love it happening to me. Probably the sensation of that bite, and feeling my blood flowing into their mouth, but…mmm!

I know, I should resist, but seriously, even if he didnt look into my eyes, and take control of my mind, then do it…?

But fine, at my age, and with my looks, I’m probably safe, unfortunately! But if I’m not here Thursday, you might start wondering…? πŸ˜‰

Right, video time. This was just one of those random You Tube searches, not a personalΒ  pick. Having said that, I’ve heard a lot worse, but I’ve heard better too. But yes, the song title wins out, lol! πŸ˜›

Pasta my best?

Sorry for the corny Italian based pun here, though in truth, I probably am nowadays, lol!

Seemingly, in this marketing hyped world we live in nowadays, today is World Pasta Day. Why something as popular as Pasta actually needs a day, but given I dont complain about Ice Cream having its own day, I’d better be diplomatic on the matter.

Yes, despite having no Italian ancestry to my knowledge (as far as I know, only of Irish stock, and thats a while back), I like pasta, and am more than happy to have it a few times in a week. In fact, shockingly, for a woman of Irish ancestry, I actually prefer it to potatoes, much of the time, but besides that…

In truth, I have no idea when Italian food first came into my life, but it did, and its stayed there. I would imagine it was at some point in my teens, or more likely, my twenties, because it wasnt ‘big’ in the UK when I was a child, unlike now. Though yes, I definitely had Chinese meals as a child, but dont remember many other variations on British food before teens, though I suspect I must have done at some point, given my ‘other home’ proximity to Bradford!

But at some point it came into my life, and as they say, the rest is history! Oh, and I like pizza too! And guilty, I had lasagne tonight, even if it was one of those already prepared ones. But fine, I had an excuse to do so.

But yes, fine, just let me know when its World Robotization Day, OK? πŸ˜›

OK, video time. In terms of Italian music hitting the UK charts, it seemingly hasnt happened much. And when it has, it tends to be an English translation version, not the original Italian one. Oh, and when it has, generally the songs have been pretty forgettable, but anyway…

Right, I’m putting this version up first for a good reason, to get it past the Facebook posting. Yes, the last one, I had issues due to the less than completely covered up style of the chorus line girls in the video. So playing careful here, with this…

Oh fine, for my adult readers, this is the version that will appeal more, I’m sure, but Facebook would have a fit over!

Flying down to Blackpool?

Oh, lets face it, doesnt have quite the same ring as Rio, does it? And no, in March, I will be going by train, believe me. Well, given it will involve First Trans Pennine Express, and Northern Rail, maybe I should say, should be going by train, lol?

Yes, off to Blackpool again in March, for the film festival, and this time, with more planning, I’m working on a longer stay. Its handy that its the weekend of my birthday in that sense, as I will be off work anyway.

Seemingly one of the themes for next year is Hollywood glamour, which leads to a distinct possibility that I might yet get to have my ‘Clara Johnson’ chorus line moment, in suitable attire, which should be fun! Seems like the 42nd Street dance team that have been hired for the event might have a couple of extra, slightly less talented dancers on the team, lol!

So yes, if you want to see me make a fool of myself like that (or not), then you might want to arrange to be in Blackpool from 15th – 17th March, 2019, just saying…!

But why I picked this particular title, and this particular musical (no, its not 42nd Street) is because of something I learned about a wonderful friend today. She did what is termed as wing walking a while back, something I offer her my utmost admiration for doing. Of course she was secured, but even so…Oh fine, if someone had offered me the chance, when younger, I might have said yes, but…not sure I would now, other than for huge amounts of sponsorship, lol! πŸ˜›

Which brought me back to this. Yes, Clara Johnson is among the girls on the planes, though more a case of looking pretty here, than doing a sensational dance routine. In truth, I suspect she was probably about 30 feet (10 metres?) maximum off the ground, in front of a screen, and behind a fan, but anyway… Lets face it, they’re not going to let a girl actually fall a long way from an actual plane, over the sea, are they? Especially as one was Ginger Rogers…? Yes, just checked, not really in flight!

All the same, it looked amazing, I must say. As for Angie, and doing it for real, so uch admiration!

Right, video time. Yes, its that movie, and yes, its that shoot. No, thats one thing Clara ‘did’ that is going to take a lot of money for a good cause to get me to do, lol!

But baby, its cold out there!

If anyone should happen to be thinking, I wonder what Harlean would really love for Christmas, I’m happy to give you an idea, assuming such a thing exists. Oh fine, a fully interfacing robot suit would be sheer heaven, but might be a shade expensive, even if it existed, so I might have to pass on that. But if anyone has one going spare…?

Its fair to say I’ve been lucky this summer, in that most of the time the weather has been warm (or hot), and reasonably dry, most of the time. This is because, the 3 things my back really hates, are cold weather (anything much below 50 issues start, and get much worse below 40), high winds, and rain, as they make the fracture in my back feel far more painful.

So, what I was thinking, if such a thing exists, is that wouldnt it be handy if I had a thermal (heated as well would be nice) full bodysuit that I could use during the winter. Oh fine, I probably need 2 or 3 to get me through a working week, but even 1 would be a help. Does such a thing even exist? I know, you can get vest things, and leggings, but I really need to be able to keep the cold out everywhere! I know, if it came in silver, would be heaven, but in truth, any color would do, my back wouldnt care!

Does something like this exist, or is there anything even vaguely close to this that exists? If so, please let me know. Equally, if someone fancies designing one, also, let me know! Because yes, the warmer my back is, at all times, the better! In practice, I cant (and I’m sure most buying presents for me) afford anything at too crazy a price, but if it clears a lot of my back pain, it may still be worth it?

But yes, if someone wants to supply, or buy for me, so much the better!

OK, video time. Fine, I have no idea why I havent used this before? It has a 20’s feel to it, including the most gorgeous flapper dress (would love the adult, size 16 UK version of this), and one of the most wonderful singers of this era too. And yes, just perfect for this blog!

Witch Queen of exam taking?

Much to my amusement, at my age, I’m doing an apprenticeship at work. I know, full of prospects for the future at 60, I dont think! But anyway, it has to be done.

Anyway, I got through the first level of exams at end of last year/beginning of this year, and now I’m tackling the second (and thankfully final) level of exams before I can say its over.

Snag for me was, that first set were multiple choice, and even if all answers were relevant of sorts, it wasnt that hard to work out enough correct answers to pass. Unfortunately, this lot, it seems you actually have to do written answers, but hopefully I did enough yesterday to scrape through the first one, I sure hope so. With luck, it will be a few weeks before I find out, either way!

The amusing factor is that I’ve now started studying for part 2, of 5, and if everything goes to plan, I should be taking that exam a fortnight after the first one. Yes, you’ve worked that out, 31st October, aka Halloween!

So, given the dressing up plans mentioned in the previous blog, it looks a certainty that it will be a witch taking that exam, not a ‘human’. Oh, and I’m going to be invigilated by a Zombie, and I dont mean one of the pop group of that name! Oh goodness, this should be fun. Maybe if I can get a magic wand, I can force the computer to put up all the right answers for me, lol?

Now all I need is a magic wand (that actually works), and ideally a flying broomstick (also that works), and I’ll be in witchy heaven! First spell I’d cast, fix my back, of course!

So yes, whether I pass or not, that exam should be an entertaining sight, if nothing else! Yes, I would imagine there will be photos!

Right, video time. This song was a hit when I was a teen, so yes, its old. Just like any good witch should be! πŸ˜‰

Which outfit for Halloween?

Actually, thats a play on words, but it would have given the game away completely if I hadnt done that! Mind, within a few minutes, you’ll know anyway, but for now…

I must say that one thing I’m loving at work at present, though I’m not sure how many others do, is that we are making an effort to ‘dress up’ for certain events. And yes, even though Halloween is nothing like as big here, as it is in the US (or so I’m told, closest I got was flying home on 30th, but shops were full of stuff), it seems we can get to dress up in ‘scary’ outfits to celebrate the day this year.

Fortunately for me, its a working day, falling on a Wednesday this year. Even more fortunately for me, I’m not actually doing calls on a Wednesday at present, as its my day of the week for doing the studying to finish my apprenticeship course. Yes, I know, such a course at 60! I know how silly I think that is, but if it has to be done…I suppose its a break from the phones, at least? Actually got the first, of 5 exams to finish that off, so I might feel differently about matters tomorrow night, after that, but besides that…

Thing was for me, what to dress up as, for Halloween. Yes, the chances of me not getting involved were miniscule, lol, given I love this sort of thing, and if people dont support it, it wont continue. And no, however scary some of the movie robots might have been, they dont really count as Halloween, lets face it.

I did consider vampire, because fine, I find the idea of being bitten like that rather exciting. But given I cant do make up, it would only really leave the teeth, so… I’ll be honest, I’d been thinking witch, simply because its the easiest option for a woman. And lets face it, with my looks, I have less need to be made up to look hideous than most. πŸ˜›

Anyway, my friend Angie, that I know from Blackpool has been advertising lots of great outfits for sale. One of which was a gorgeous black hat, mask, and dress, for a witch. Thing is, the dress is a ‘few’ sizes smaller than ‘Miss Pear’ could wear. Yeah, about an 8/10 UK, whereas I need about a 16/18, ideally the latter especially if its a zip up dress! Not that I’m sure how I could study, wearing the mask, but anyway…

Well, besides that, a little later, a great looking red hat, this one in fact

witches hat

appeared, and yes, purchase has been arranged. There shortly will be two of us looking for a suitable dress, in my size to match. Oh, and if anyone knows of a broomstick, that actually flies, I’d love one, especially as First Buses went absent without leave again on Monday night! Perfect for Halloween, but I might be tempted to use more often, if one truly existed, lol!

As stated, the need for make up, to make me into a hideous witch, might not be critical! Ability to cast magic spells, purely optional, though might be fun!

So yes, if you see a witch flying through the sky on Halloween, between Bradford, and Huddersfield, I might have struck lucky! πŸ˜‰

Right, video time, something very silly, from the Muppets!

Happy Birthday One Two Five

In these modern times, would you care to nominate any movie star who’s career is likely to last 75 years? Probably not? And lets face it, even if they did, the chances of them making 1 silent movie, let alone hundreds in that career, very unlikely!

But did you know, there was one movie star who did both, and managed to live within 8 months of reaching her century? Well, some readers might, but I suspect, not many. But yes, that amazing lady was Lillian Gish, who would have been 125 today, had she still been living, and she did her best to do so!

Of course, a lot of those silent movies are now lost to time, a lot of that down to films being made on nitrate film back then, which was a highly volatile material, to put it mildly. Indeed a lot of the lost films relate to fires created by these films being burnt to shreds. Thankfully, a number of her films do survive, unlike poor Theda Bara for example, who has 2 extant films from the numerous ones she made.

The thing is, back in the 1910’s (yes, a century ago), she was one of the biggest stars of the time. And she stayed that way until the dreaded introduction of sound to the movies. Though whether it was a lack of interest, or a lack of something else (her voice seemed fine in later life), she didnt make many talkies back then, before her retirement. Well, partial retirement, because as stated, she didnt actually make her last movie until 1987, at the grand old age of 94!

No, no one really knows why she never married in her life, though she did say she was married to her movies. But apart from one fling, and another reputed earlier affair, she never seems to have shown interest in romance. Was it that her preference was frowned upon back then, or was she really just totally asexual, who knows?

But yes, on this day in 1893, one of the great movie legends entered the world, and it took until 1993 before she left it again! So happy heavenly birthday, Miss Gish!

OK, video time. Well, this guy is still with us, though only (only!) 79 at this time. I know, the number is 109 out, but what can a woman do?
